Pot plant ideas/help please!
Comments (5)Is there drainage in the brick bed? I would also go for lavender. I'm not green fingered at all so I know it doesn't particularly like clay soil (I had to replace half of mine each year) but I don't think it requires much soil or maintenance. Does the bench fit under the bathroom (?) window? Just thinking its a shame to cover up the stone beneath the window. I'd paint the bench a grey with a purple undertone. I think the lavender will look lovely against the green garage and door and gravel to give a Mediterranean look so I'd also go for an olive in front of the drainpipe. I might also paint the meter box in a warm grey to blend with the brick and have the blue pot in front of that, Rachel's geraniums sound good. Perhaps buy 2 terracotta pots and have 3 pots the other side of differing heights. Perhaps repeat the geranium, then rosemary and a windmill palm (I think these will grow in pots and in the shadier area, hopefully one of the others will correct me if not!)...See MoreCan you help me identify these succulents?
Comments (12)Thanks so much Angie - what a help you’ve been! I’m so happy I have a name to research now You’re a dear for taking the time to look those up for me. Can I ask, your Money Plant, is it growing the way mine is? I was reading an article that had a photograph. It looked similar to my Money Plant but didn’t actually have a label. It stated that if the plant looked the way my Money Plant did, it was under nourished and stretching to reach the light. It may not have been a Money Plant in the article in the first instance but it made me feel sad that one of my plants may be feeling neglected. Also, are the extra sprouts on the Money Plant removable or is it usually to leave them there. What book would you recommend for a beginner looking to identify my plants? It sounds as if you’ve got a good knowledge of these things! How lovely your plant grew from a little snippet - it’s always so gorgeous to see them grow from something so small. Thanks again Angie, sorry for all the questions but I appreciate your knowledge so much....See MorePlease help rescue my lemon plant!
Comments (6)Are the leaves sticky and the white matter from elsewhere has stuck onto the leaf and the twine ? Citrus are loved by scale insects that lay eggs that live in thin flat brown scales on the underside of the leaves and on the brown wood of the plant. My lemon tree is covered despite 2 years of trying so many ways to get rid of them but with no luck - RHS didn’t solve this one for me. I have a shelf full of products to remove them and have done so many recommended ideas from the web. Lemons now my least favourite plant!...See MorePlease help me with plant ideas for a former pond made into a bed
Comments (9)Lots of potential and your garden is so pretty. I would fill it with a mixture of good topsoil and compost. What plants you choose does depends on the aspect - is it sunny or shady in that spot? You could put a smallish evergreen shrub in the middle then surround it with gorgeous perennial flowers In a tier. if it’s sunny, I would plant an evergreen Cistus (white or pink flowers) then surround it with Crocosmia, Hemerocallis, Globe Thistles and then the final layer at the front all round with Geranium Rozanne, Campanula, Nepeta or Lavender Or Aubretia. These are just suggestions but as long as the plants you buy are the right height and like sun you should be fine. if it’s a shady spot you could try Skimmia an evergreen, then add some Ferns, Bergenia, Anemones. Or maybe an obilisk with a Clematis climbing through it? SKIMMIA CISTUS 2 CLEMATIS...See MoreLuciana
