The lantern roof joining up with the Crittall windows - so much light and height. Couldn’t have it in my house though as we are S facing and would bake. The cat is also gorgeous! The cabinets, though beautifully made, you can keep. I prefer drawers. I’d ditch the old style tap for a more practical level mixer. And brick as a splashback would be hard to keep clean. It does all look gorgeous but not the most practical.

See below the plan of the house as I bought it: Practically I have removed the partition walls as I wanted to open the space up and the wall between the bath and the kitchen as it was affected by damp. Here is how it looks now: I can play around only this space as the other walls are load bearing. One of the builders assured me we can chase the drain pipes without much hassle. The hallway would have some light through the kitchen door and its transom with the larger kitchen option. In case of the smaller kitchen, there would be plenty of light in the hallway from the bathroom and kitchen as I considered glass between kitchen and hallway. Thanks

Hi there, I don't know the details but could you not work around the problem by using a fire suppression system? Water mist etc? If you use a system like this and separate the ground floor glazed element with a wall and fire door this should satisfy the fire officer and consequently building control? That way you may not need fire rated glass possibly? To be honest your architect should have foreseen this eventuality and designed it out.

Hi Robyn It is disappointing to say the least that you have not had the courtesy to acknowledge my messages (above) but have commented on other people’s posts elsewhere on Houzz. We spent a lot of money on our Origin bifold doors - you were initially concerned that the agent (you had trained to install your products) may need retraining as you said it sounded like they had not left enough room for heat expansion of the frames. The traffic door does not close properly in heat & should we be burgled then we will hold you responsible. You offered to send an engineer out to check your product had been installed correctly by an agent you trained & it is extremely poor customer service to retract this offer & then state Origin are only concerned in manufacture issues. I would very much appreciate a reply to my message & will be taking this direct to Andrew Halsall MD of a Origin.
