we need help with the living room / TV units !!!!
Comments (10)Hi. I would bring forward the sofa about 3ft forward from where it is now. Add a long console/sideboard etc behind the sofa (door ŵall) with a pair of matching table lamps and a set of 8/12 symmetrical art prints over the top. Add a console behind the sofa back facing the kitchen and accessorise (not with lamps!). Move the coffee table in front of the sofa. I'd move the tv to the other side of the fire and have someone make a cabinet to fit the tv just something similar to your yellow one). Pop a couple of lamps on this cabinet. Move the chair to the other corner (but not right in it) and pop a floor lamp or your existing one behind. I'd go for art over the fire, something with mainly a white background picking up a little of your colours. I think a light would be fine over the dining table, it won't lower the ceiling further as you've got the extractor, and as the table isn't symmetrical to the island I think it would work. Alternatively remove the light fitting and have an arc lamp on that rhs ŵall partly over the table. What ŵalls were you looking to decorate? Is the blue going? I think given the colours in the room I'd go grey, white or a duck egg could work for the main ŵalls....See MoreHelp desperately needed for living room
Comments (12)I used to work with TV's, support and installation, as a general rule, if you can comfortably leave your hand where the bottom of the screen is - it''ll be fine. That also looks like an electric fan heater. So it's not as hot and blows forward more than up :) If you don't use it, take it out, that's what I did...See MoreDesperately need help with master bathroom! Please!
Comments (1)When I plan, i like to try to visualise exactly what will greet me when i open the door. In this case I chose not to see either the toilet or bidet, and to give the persons using those a little privacy. ( I'm guessing that plumbing requirements dictate that the soil pipe be near to the outside wall with the window on it. ) Therefore, upon opening the door, straight ahead is the double vanity with low (false ) wall behind it ( i made mine 1.2 Metres high ), This gives way to room for possibly a small shelf etc upon which to put soap etc. It also disguises behind it, the toilet and bidet, now not visible from the door. The toilet roll holder will site on the wall on the left next to the toilet. You also have room to hang towels on the wall to the left of the basins. The bath went in the top right corner ( and drains straight through the outside wall ) . Then to the immediate right upon opening the door, a large walk in shower. The towel radiator sits between the shower and the bath and is easily accessible from both. Maybe that would work for you?...See MoreHelp desperately needed on livingroom layout - impossible room
Comments (18)Hi, Thank you so much for all the replies!! I've attached some photos. One is looking towards the garden, one is looking towards the study, a picture of the infamous mezzanine floor and the finally one a view from the dining room looking up into the livingroom (which is why I thought it would be nice not to block it). I don't know if the photos do it justice how empty the room feels when your sat on the settee - its like your squished into less than half of the room. We were initially definitely going to rip out the mezzanine floor (its an extension to the original design), but haven't made a decision. We are taking opinions at the moment. Everyone agrees it is a bit odd, but it does provide additional space (storage) and one of our friends suggested a reading snug. It's currently our cats little area. The house is a detached house built in the 70s. The garden is split level out back, the front is a slope. The garage is used as a gym and the kitchen is big enough to accommodate a dining table so we were going to keep the diningroom as the formal room (separate) and have an informal dining area in the kitchen. I'm in Manchester. Hopefully I've responded to everyone, going to post this and then review again!! Thank you again for your thoughts!! I like some of the ideas. Maybe a fireplace not on the wall, but in the middle. I'm thinking of replacing the radiator with a more modern smaller one, maybe a vertical one....See Moreshirlpp
