flooring type please

I really like the warmth the floor tiling gives to the room, instead of the often cold looking greys. Is it possible to share the tile details please?

Hi Sam, thanks for getting in touch! You're right they do provide a nice warmth which we feel compliments the solid oak bespoke island top and shutters - in response to your question, the tiles are a porcelain floor tile from Mandarin Stone - We hope this helps.

Hi Donna, the world is your oyster really, your kitchen sounds quite neutral so you can go for almost anything. Gillian is right there are lots of porcelain wood effect tiles around these days and some look better than others. Porcelain tiles are very practical and hardwaring and easy to keep clean. Think about the look you are trying to achieve, do you want the floor to look ultra plain or would you consider a concrete/stone effect tile? Stone effect tiles can look stunning and will hide a multitude of sins, necessary if you have children or animals in the house. I tend to prefer long curtains personally as well but if you think that brushing past them would annoy you then I’d go for short. Roman blinds could be an option as well if they will tuck under the pelmet, I do feel that you’d need a double layer approach with perhaps a roller blind in the window to block out the light tho. You could always ask the curtain maker to include curtain weights in the bottom. This would help to make the fabric hang a lot straighter. Of course this does depend on what type of fabric you choose. A thick woven wool or chenille for example (something you might use for cushions or upholstery) will have a lot more bulk and stick out more. Synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester tend to drape better because of the smooth weave. I think my sister has very similar units to you - cashmere. She chose huge format porcelain tiles for practicality (she has a black lab). You can see more on @hovehomemakeover on instagram. Wood like Sonia suggested would also look lovely, your sister's looks amazing.
