What seating arrangement for our living room?
Comments (4)How about swapping the rooms around. Move the TV room where your office/ library is now and build your library shelving around the walls in this other room. That room has more 'uninterrupted' walls (although I can't see how low the windows are) so it's easier to arrange the sofas. You can customise the bookshelves to fit the middle room, can already use the built-ins around the window, etc. (I'd suggest to include radiator masks matching the wood/ paint of the shelves). You then wouldn't have to get rid of the fireplace surround. And if you fix it and place an old leather armchair next to it, you could build a fire and cosy up with a book till late March! Or you can hang a retractable screen above the opening between the rooms and buy a projector - ta da! your own cinema room!...See Moreneed help decorating my north facing living room
Comments (14)Thank you yes, it is the room! I bought a tester pot of the F&B Strong White, but when tested it looked cream. I also bought the F&B Anthrocite which was a bit darker. Will try the Bone White also. Love the cushions in the pic - navy with the piping. Would also maybe like to go a bit darker on the back wall as in the pic but wondered if this might be too cold in a north facing room. I know that when the colours dry they appear darker and also in a larger space than just a test area, so may well try something along the lines of the Anthrocite....See Morewe need help with the living room / TV units !!!!
Comments (10)Hi. I would bring forward the sofa about 3ft forward from where it is now. Add a long console/sideboard etc behind the sofa (door ŵall) with a pair of matching table lamps and a set of 8/12 symmetrical art prints over the top. Add a console behind the sofa back facing the kitchen and accessorise (not with lamps!). Move the coffee table in front of the sofa. I'd move the tv to the other side of the fire and have someone make a cabinet to fit the tv just something similar to your yellow one). Pop a couple of lamps on this cabinet. Move the chair to the other corner (but not right in it) and pop a floor lamp or your existing one behind. I'd go for art over the fire, something with mainly a white background picking up a little of your colours. I think a light would be fine over the dining table, it won't lower the ceiling further as you've got the extractor, and as the table isn't symmetrical to the island I think it would work. Alternatively remove the light fitting and have an arc lamp on that rhs ŵall partly over the table. What ŵalls were you looking to decorate? Is the blue going? I think given the colours in the room I'd go grey, white or a duck egg could work for the main ŵalls....See MoreTV and 5.1.4 living room, in front of window - or unused fireplace
Comments (2)This may sound like an odd proposal but how about dividing the space with the TV unit? Have the sofa and TV in the same orientation as option 2 - but moved down the plan so the sofa is in front of the radiator and move the desk area behind the TV. You may need a TV unit that will hide all the cables from the TV and protect it from being knocked over. Just a thought. Good luck....See MoreL K
