Doors between dining room and kitchen

my mum has had her kitchen opened up. They were going to leave the space between the dining room and kitchen open, but have realised how exposed it is when people walk past the bay window (which is on the road).
Any thoughts about doors. the photo where my mum and daughter are, is where the doorway will be coming in to the kitchen from the hall, so would open up onto the wall where the opening is, this slightly restricting the doors that would open from the opening. One photo shows the other aspect looking back from the dining room.
