Please help with backsplash choice
My counters for my kitchen remodel are installed (MSI Calacatta Venice) and now I could really use help picking my backsplash. My cabinets will be painted SW Pale White, my floors are oak hardwood I’m having restrained in medium walnut color. I’m not really wanting a plain white subway as counters and cabinets are all white. Here are my samples I’ve narrowed my choices too. My husband thinks the marble mosaic herringbone is too busy but I kind of love it as I like the warm tones that would match the floor. The two gray subway choices (light and dark) also come in a smaller 2 x 8 size that I may choose to do in a herringbone pattern instead. If I do the longer subway tiles in gray will probably do standard staggered as I don’t think I have room for a herringbone design. Open to any suggestions!

Comments (14)I would paint all the walls a soft buttery yellow - Restoration Hardware's Butter would be perfect. New window covering in the alcove could be a roman-style roll-up blind (you can find good inexpensive ones at K-Mart) that would pick up the tones from the wood floors and shutters. Art with red, gray and yellow matting hung in a grouping over the fireplace would add a classy touch. Your current furniture needs to be re-arranged in an attractive, more intimate way. Comments (2)Hi Karen. I like the sound of grey. I'd go with something very light to brighten the space. Farrow and Balls slipper satin is a beautiful colour and would look lovely with grey units, perhaps shaded white. Little Greene Paint company also do lovely shades of grey. Perhaps Grouse on the walls and French Grey for the cupboards. A lighter floor and glass splash backs would also help to reflect the light and make it brighter. Comments (16)Have you considered a mirror? This would not only work well with your colour scheme but would provide a more spacious feel by reflecting the colours already in your kitchen. If you felt more adventurous tinted mirror glass. When using glass behind a cooker you can use plain or toughened for heat resistance but ultimately what should be considered is durability. In this location where it is likely that pots and pans could knock the splashback toughened should used. It does look lovely, I just wanted to make the most of the bricks on that wall too, but in practice they would probably be a pain to look after behind the hob. i don't like that marble mosaic next to your countertop. But you could do a linear Calacatta marble like this (Tilebar)
I like the darker gray one, but not size. Encore Ceramics has this Silver glaze color in many shapes
Go over to Tilebar and grab some samples. 5 for $5. this is their Nabi-Harlequin in the Arctic

4 years agoI wanted to thank everyone who commented on my backsplash dilemma and give an update to my post. Kitchen was done in late February. I went with the light gray tile in a herringbone pattern and I love it! Appreciate all the advice I received.
