Most definitely not solid wood flooring ... as everyone above has advised. The whole reason we stopped producing Solid Wood Flooring and manufacturing engineered wooden floors as opposed to Solid Wood floors is due to their inherent stability within 21st century installations i.e. underfloor heating systems / air conditioning etc. Our engineered wooden floors once installed look exactly the same as solid wood flooring (see below) and the usable hardwood wear layer (i.e. from surface to the tongue and groove ) is the same depth - so the same longevity, and you can have them oiled, bespoke stained , texturised to suit your interior. If you change your decor in years to come, you can sand your floor and stain to suit... These 2 floors are both the same ...Character Oak engineered flooring but the floor above has an antiqued stain - this would work well within an Edwardian interior ...whilst the one below is clear UV oiled Character Oak flooring. Climbers would be an excellent idea as they tend not to grow outwards as much as shrubs. Lovely scented climbers are Honeysuckle, Star Jasmine (evergreen), Climbing Roses and Clematis. I don’t think there is much room for underplanting, so I would stick with small perennials such as hardy Geraniums, Aubretia, Erigeron and Alchemilla mollis. Box is quite formal and will need regular trimming. Unfortunately they are also prone to Box blight which has affected some areas in the UK but not others - worth a google! You could also place something of interest at the end such as a statue/piece of art or a water feature.

That's a good idea thanks but don't know ow how I would get something of that size into my back garden now the building work is already up to the top of the 1st story let alone get something round the back to dig it. The front garden already has LPG tank buried. Sadly I live in a rural area with no mains drains and no gas. Haha. Sadly the person doing the design drawings etc was a little slap dash and just directed everything up to the septic tank which quite frankly as an architect he should know I'm not able to do such a thing. All errors from his work are listed for a complaint at some point. Inwas thinking of using old soak away and having like an over flow system that if pipes get backed up the water will be directed out and down my drive towards the road. Just not really sure how building regs will view this.
