Skirting and architrave not matching
Comments (9)In principle there is nothing wrong with the white skirting and the oak door dn architraves and as my colleagues have said the skirting say calm and the focus is on the doors BUT I would consider using a bigger skirting painted white.......the one in the photo looks a bit mean and modern. Double the height give it a bit of moulding detail and it will fit in perfectly with the doors.......at the moment it doesn't look right. Good luck...See MorePainting bedroom walls and ceilings the same colour
Comments (0)Hi! My bedroom is a really odd shape with many doors because of built in wardrobes in the eaves. We have curved walls into ceilings on most walls so it’s impossible to find the end of wall and the start of the ceiling! I have chosen Little Greene Livid colour for the walls to paint half height with brilliant white for the ceiling and top part of the walls. (which we have already done) Hubby and I are thinking that we might like to paint the ceiling and all the walls the same Livid colour. Would it look ridiculous? Should we leave all the wood work white or paint it exactly the same colour? I have attached a couple of pictures of the oddly shaped room, and one of inspiration. Forgive the mess of my pictures!. Where the bed is in my picture will be dressing table or chair (I am thinking of feature wallpapering that wall because it is a’flat’ wall) and a different bed will go in front of the wall with the wooden shelf on top. The room is north facing and we like that it doesn’t get a lot of light! But the window is white PVC so I am wondering if we should stick the white woodwork.. Thanks for reading! I would love to hear your thoughts!...See MoreDark skirting and architrave with wooden internal doors?
Comments (13)Yes architrave and skirting works well in the wall colour. Makes the ceiling higher and you don’t have the contrast with white skirting boards which can make a room feel smaller too. Or your original suggestion could work, I just wasn’t keen on the actual colours personally but I’m not great with colour 😂...See MoreWhat to do with skirtings, architraves?
Comments (5)My skirting boards in my 1930s house differ upstairs to downstairs and they are original. Upstairs are plain whilst the downstairs ones are a bit more shaped. I personally prefer painted skirting and I like your idea of having the walls and skirting/architrave the same colour. The beams aren’t too oppressive so I would leave them, although I do find white or taupe painted ones very attractive....See MoreMartin Lawrence
