Hi, would welcome any ideas for designing a small garden
Comments (4)Read up all about how to grow plants from cuttings. Then tell your family , friends and neighbours that you need cuttings and old pots. Buy seed raising mix and locate a stick. Also collect old margarine , yogurt etc containers. Cut off soft drink bottles make great covers. Join a local garden club and say you're a beginner. Gardeners love sharing advice and cuttings. For a cheap source of readymade plants try fetes, garage sales etc. if going to markets, go to the stalls farthest away from the gates. Enjoy!...See MoreHow to repurpose this area of the garden?! Comments (19)@Jonathan I don't dislike it either. Agree that additions of various things would make it more appealing and a heater would certainly make it nice and cozy. The side fencing will also be changed soon which will smarten it up. It's just a case of our needs at the moment with the little ones. Definitely agree with the path also. I'm not keen on where it is at the moment. Just have to decide on the shape....See MoreHelp needed with bathroom renovation; ideas welcome
Comments (1)Chris. I think your tiles are a really nice choice and they will give you the classy feel that you want. Either format will be fine but the rectangular tiles fitted vertically will give the impression of greater height to the room. Clearly it’s a matter of personal choice but I think that the dark grey accents cheapen the class of the tiles and bring the room in. If you wanted to go for a contrast, maybe the vanity unit in a dark wood effect would look more classy. My other thought is that the room is maybe not big enough for the shower set up as you have it here. I think that water will splash beyond the screen and in front of the toilet. My thoughts are keep the open shower screen but go with a plain white porcelain shower tray with a slightly raised lip or keep the flooring consistent and opt for a frameless glass door which will keep the water in. Could be just me but I like to splash a bit in the shower and I think you’ll end up with water in front of your loo. Best of luck with the renovation. It’s going to look great....See MoreSmall garden advice - input welcome!
Comments (5)Emily the way you speak of your garden and plants fills me with joy! I planted a Birch in a very large pot last year and did lots of research. Would a forest tree work in a pot? I did lots of research from The Royal Horticultural Society and they said yes! There is a Birch called Betula Jackmanii and it has an amazing white trunk, so one to think about. Jasmine likes sun and shelter so the one near the house is in a perfect place. Other plants I can suggest are Cistus (pink or white flowers). It only grows to about 4ft and is evergreen. I visited an open garden yesterday which had a gorgeous courtyard garden where they served tea and cake. It had a large pergola too with a silver birch growing through the deck and up through the pergola! Here a picture of it. The third pic is my Weigela which is a stunner, and the last pic is a Cistus....See MoreSonia
