Need to make nursery more gender neutral

I just decorated a nursery for my grandaughter 4 months and my new grandson due in 4 months.

I used purple on one wall, as it is restful and soft stone on the others. The woodwork is all white gloss, and the new carpet is grey, we are having a stars theme and I have bought some stars and wall art to go on the walls. My problem the purple is a lot lighter than it looked on the tin and my daughter likes the room but thinks it is too girly for her new baby.

Does anyone have any ideas to make it look more boyish. I have attached some photos.

Gender doesn't have a color. :)

I like the purple but it seems a bit off with the stone shade on the other walls. I think a soft sage green would be very nice and still retain a restful feel.

Perhaps, for your reference Farrow and ball's Cabbage White or Borrowed Light, these 2 paint colour would work, and these 2 colours are more of a light greyish white with a hint of blue, creating a more spacious atmosphere for the room. Hope this helps.

Sofas arrived, very happy with them, comfortable too. Trying to now decide on cushions to add some balance to room. I'm leaning towards natural earthy colours to blend with a rug to soften things. I'm considering faux fur throws too. I currently have these crocheted blankets on as my dog is a princess, fortunately she's non moulting. Any ideas welcome. Don't fancy bold colours despite the dining area canvas.

Ah... if you haven't moved in, stay off paint for a while. They can hide minor leaks! Pressure test the bathroom before painting. You will find it a lot less boring during summer! If you are ordering shutters, a non-white one might be a good option to start with. If you don't want to invest at such early stage, look up 247blinds, I always get my blinds from them and the blinds are very easy to install. Hope it helps :)

It all comes down to budget as always. The bigger the budge the more you can do. I would be really mindful of the fact, that if you change the facade, it would be better if you could change the windows. The wood cladding I agree would look fabulous, you could have the bottom a lovely grey to tone in. However, neither will look good with bog standard white windows, as both look better with a dark grey, thinner Aluminium Frame or a Chunkier Sandy Beige Frame. When you add white windows, the effect is not quite so slick The pic above shows the white windows with the cladding and it would look a lot better with the darker, thinner frames. If you can't afford to change or colour bond the windows, then maybe go for all over colour, a dark grey would be good, and consider changing the Front door for impact. Alternatively, work towards doing the ultimate change. The vertical wood cladding, with a grey underneath and a door to match the wood. Thinner dark pewter aluminium framed windows etc. sorry about the mock up quality!

It sounds to me that the room needs some pattern and the wallpaper idea will sort that. If you are trying to avoid florals there are lots of geometric or retro patterns you could consider. You then likely need an additional accent colour and the earlier comment is right that pink goes very well with navy- but so do most other colours- in my opinion the navy is such a strong choice the accent should perhaps be a softer pastel colour but teal, white, coral, and brassy golds also contrast.
