I have a 20ftx11ft bedroom looking for ideas layout and decor
Comments (1)So, a long and thin room! Some tips for making it appear wider is to paint the two short walls a dark colour to create an illusion of width! Horizontal stripes can also help, whether it's on the carpet or curtains/blinds. Lighter floor surfaces will help make it appear wider too. Hope this helps! Comments (33)White or pale walls are ok, DOn't feel that the only way to decorate4 is by painitng the walls. Decide if you want white on white scheme, or a pop of colour. If so, cushions and curtains are the way to go. Decide on a colour and stick to it. TRy the 70-20-10 rule where your 70 is white4 (your walls) and 20 is curtqains and cushions and 10 is a secondary colour such as gold or silver for hardwaqre and ornaments and presto you're done....See MoreLooking to add internal wall in bedroom - looking for advice
Comments (49)Thanks for all the ideas! Just to clarify I have blinds on the window but even with the blinds turned I feel like I'm not getting much privacy, hence the idea of having a wall or something else. Just like to have privacy without having to close the blinds. I also currently have a chest of draws opposite the wardrobe, just a cheap one from IKEA which gives me extra storage but I'm not crazy about it. After mocking up the back to back in 3D in floorplanner I think it's not the best option as it would reduce the amount of floor space and block a lot of light compared to having a long run against the wall. I like OnePlan's idea, I actually thought about that before but went off it as it wold feel more like walking into a wardrobe instead of a bedroom, plus I couldn't find any sliding doors that looked good from both sides and in budget. While I like the idea of wardrobes either side, I would only have about 1-1.5 meters on the left side, which might look a bit odd. I did try it with my current wardrobes and it made the room very dark but if I used white wardrobes it might look better. As you can tell I've been thinking about this for a while and I've gone through a lot of ideas. My main concern was with people's reaction to dividing the room and walking into the wardrobe first but I'm encouraged with the comments on here about that. The other concern is budget. I don't want to spend a crazy amount on it but I do want it finished nice. Thanks for all the ideas and comments :)...See MoreBedroom decorating scheme advice
Comments (73)I think the lighter fern fabric for the curtains would look very nice. And then linen, hessian, grey with pink warm undertone for the walls and ceiling, that the curtains almost blend in, and dark tone black shade for the window frame and the door. You can paint the nightstands black (if I can convince you to add a crystal knob. Alix’s pax handle looks really nice on black) and black low bookshelf in the corner where you have your shelves now, but window height and tour prints above it . Are you keeping that desk in your bedroom or is it for your daughter’s room? You are keeping it, put it under the window with your table mirror on it. Hessian fabric on the wardrobe door and paint the ridges black also. I would go with hessian fabric outside of the glass, it not entirely sure how difficult it is to do, tbh. if You put the fabric inside the glass you’d need to use a transparent glue. You are very good with diy, should be able to do it. If the fabric goes outside of the glass it will have a very different effect from the one if it goes under the glass....See Morearc3d
