70s house exterior suggestions

We’ve lived in this house for years and have never touched the outside!
Please can you give me some ideas, particularly regarding the porch area. I have no idea what to, I think just some sort of canopy over the front door but no clue on styles or designs. Door and windows will remain.
Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

I think your bungalow looks lovely with the painted window frames and the purple and white plants in the front garden. I‘m not sure renewing the guttering would be a priority for me, unless they needed replacing. It all looks pretty good to me but you could perhaps consider painting it the same colour as the window frames. Looking at your garage mock-up I would say this needs some more thought. Imho this could look much better. Admittedly I wouldn’t know how, but I’m sure the clever people here will come up with some nice ideas.

I think your house is lovely - I really like the existing pale bricks and hanging tiles. I’m helping my daughter house hunt and she has just rejected looking at a 70s house that’s had hanging tiles replaced with wood as it just looked odd against the adjacent houses and she was concerned about maintenance. But I know that many people do prefer the wood cladding so it’s a matter of taste.

I like your 70s house too from the photo, even your porch looks good, it suits the style of the house. Not sure that a country style or oak porch would suit, though they are beautiful in the right setting. You could search for images of 70s semis online for exterior ideas if your planning on doing a lot of work. A lick of paint and some potted plants should make it look much better though.

That's actually a pretty good 70's exterior to work with as it has good proportions. There is a subtle section of feature stone which breaks up the brick work at the entry. The front windows are balanced and there aren't too many sections which helps keep it from looking dated. The rear windows look a bit like a jigsaw puzzle! So it depends on what you are up for ... If it's possible to paint, you could soften the windows by going into a sage color range over white. If the sectioning in the windows bothers you, you could change the window style whilst at the same time changing frame color, a front door change to a more modern door and side panel might be all you need to give a newer feel to the exterior.
