Need help choosing a chair and a rug

Hi!

I have just got my first home and I need some help choosing a rug and chair. I have picked both my couch and coffee table. I really would appreciate any help, examples or advise on what chair and rug I should be looking at! my colour scheme has got grey white black so far.

How about bringing some colour into the room with the chair such as mustard or teal or even pink? Then go for a faded Persian rug style in various greys.

I have one of these on order from After Noah. It is the G Plan vintage Sixty Two armchair and it comes in fabric and leather. It rocks backwards and forwards and swivels too. When it was invented in the Sixties it was touted as the most comfortable chair in the world. I had never sat in one until a few months ago and I was amazed. I bought two leather Zinc chairs from French Connection (very stylish) and my goodness they were so uncomfortable that I actually gave one away and sold the other. An expensive mistake I will never make again. The other thing is, these chairs go for quite a bit second hand so a good investment.

Hello, have you tried Plantation Rugs? A lot come in sizes similar to what you have specified, most are thick and made of wool. There are some really funky designs which will go great with your nice style there. Great value too. We sell them at Naken.co.uk too.

What other colours do you have going on the room? If you're going for drama a bright splash of colour would awaken your space. If you're leaning towards the muted then go for a dark neutral colour- you need some contrast so it's not boring.

I think the DSW chairs would look great but I agree they seem to be everywhere now so it's hard to justify the price tag for something which isn't very unique (and essentially just plastic). You mentioned mid century. Have you considered auctions/gumtree. You can pick up a set of original mid century chairs very cheaply if you hunt for them. I'm on the look out too for dining chairs and have also found most chairs I like cost £150+.

thank you for all your ideas! I'm also having this sort of fireplace so I think a coloured chair will really stand out 😀

@Ellie here’s the suppliers of those rugs. That style is very popular and I bet even Dunelm are selling them now. Wayfair have loads (great company with very good service). These are the faux Persian rugs, you can get the real thing but obviously a lot more expensive.
