Fitted wardrobe style

Hi,

We are looking to replace wardrobes in a small dressing area - as per the picture below (carpets changing for a really light grey colour)

Would be great to get some opinions on 2 design questions:

1. Should we replace with traditional shaker style doors?

2. Should we go for a dark colour to match walls or white as a contrast?

If budget allows I would change for something more tradition as the pics you have included.

If buget doesn't allow paint them to suit your tastes. They would blend in better if painted the same as the walls. If changing the doors i would paint different to the walls to show them off.

You can’t go wrong with Shaker style, it looks wonderful with modern or traditional decor. I have shaker wardrobes and I love the look of them, they are timeless.

Hi Lauren, we're too far away to be of too much help, but the product range we offer most office is theCrown Living / Lifespace range. They have a huge range of door colours/styles (Over 120 at last count!) in matts, gloss, sparkes, painted woods/woodgrains, metalics etc. and a very flexible system. We recently came up against Sharps, and our quote for a similar configuration/style was around half the price of Sharps. If you pick carefully your styles and mix of units, it can be very good value. You could find your local dealer at this link. Alternatively if you struggle to track down a dealer, we could quote for supply only and have delivered direct to you if you have your own fitter lined up, though obviously we are too far away to offer our usual levels of service.

Bespoke joinery is always better to achieve maximum of storage from space you got. However with PAX there is option to match up for saving cost, however you are limited to size, if you got 190cm you need to fit 150cm and have covering panels. We did in few houses to get lower cost build in units, that we put it in PAX wardrobes and we made bespoke side panels and framing, skirting so when you close them it looks like bespoke, where inside is still IKEA.

We would advise it is completely dependant on the space and your requirements. Walk-in wardrobes look great if they are kept tidy, however a plus for having doors is that it can conceal any mess and give more protection for clothing. Another trend for walk-in wardrobes is to have smoked glass doors mixed with open elements this could also work with matt lacquered doors. Alternatively you could choose to have open elements for items such as bags, shoes or coats (things you know that are easy to keep tidy) then hinged doors for other modules.
