I meant on the white doors you can see watermarks, sometimes. Depending on the light. But otherwise they just look clean and without marks. Funnily enough, after I replied to you, I wiped some finger marks off the black doors and where the doors were wet from wiping, all kinds of marks showed up that you normally never see. And you don't see them on dry doors at all. They were probably dog nose marks, but you can't see those at all on dry doors 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just wanted a white peninsula and black oak tall cabinets. The doors needed to be a specific height to fit between the floor and the steel beam. Hacker does made to measure more easily than other brands. So that's why the black doors are from Hacker, not Next. And the handleless fronts of Next feel really nice, slightly rounded at the edges and enough space for fingers. I have arthritis in my fingers so tested loads of handleless kitchens. Most were too sharp around the edge (ouch) or did not have enough space to put your fingers comfortably around the front. If you can try out different brands or models, you'll know what I mean. I don't know how much spots or 'dirt' black Next doors will show. But wiping with a damp cloth is a quick and easy solution. Last week I was in a home where they had a gloss cream kitchen and that showed loads of finger marks and I don't know what else, but I do know that I'd much rather have my non glossy kitchen doors 😉 Our kitchen fitter did say that he loves working with Hacker, because of the quality and finish. I think the full name is Hacker Systemat. But I love both cabinets and as I said: would choose either or both brands again.

Hi Chloe. I can't design for toffee (nor is to scale etc!) however it might give your thread a bump for those that can:) Personally I would probably employ Karen at OnePlan to design the whole space! Hopefully the plan is self-explanatory but i might look at banquette seating with shelves and conceal a tv over the banquette bench (should be about the right viewing height!). For others to help it might help to give more details. I assume from the plan that you have a separate living room so maybe sofas aren't the priority? It also looks as if you want a study area? What type of oven (and hob) and how many do you want? Do you want a sink or hob on the island? I'm assuming the log burner is to go in the existing chimney breast? Is the room to contain utilities? Do you want a microwave, wine fridge etc? I can see a concealed tv in your ideabook so assume that's on the list? Do you want a pantry/breakfast cabinet etc? How many is dining to seat? If you speak to someone like Karen they will ask lots more questions so as to design the space specifically for your family!

Hi Ellie, looking at your plan, don't see any particular restrictions, so long as you avoid fouling on the door - beyond that, it is really down to personal preference. As a rough rule of thumb, we like to ensure there is minimally 90-100cm width of "walkway" anywhere in a kitchen, so would position your units and island to comfortably achieve at least that. As to further suggestions - why not consider either and angled or curved unit at the end of the run? It will make entering/exiting feel much roomier without giving up much storage space (if any). As a minimum, I'd look to round off the corner of the worktop to avoid creating a sharp corner that you would catch on when entering/exiting through the angled door. Hope that helps! Hi Liz! To answer your questions, I hope this helps: "I talked to an architect who said he would do a feasibility study for us but I don't really understand what this will gain me." A feasibility study typically means that the architect will draw some sketch designs for you and then these can be used to test that the project is right for you - things like that it fits your budget, it is likely to get planning permission or it's within permitted development. Things like that. I offer a similar service called the Home Design Foundation Package. "Should I go for the feasibility study then get him to draw up plans? then approach builders?" I would check with the architect that you've spoken with what their feasibility specifically delivers for you - what will you get. I assume that you will get some sketch plans, but I don't know what they will be like or how useful they will be. If they are similar to the ones that I produce then you can use them to get a budget outline from builders, but they are not suitable for use for construction because more detail is needed. However, you could use them as a guideline on the basis that they are an outline sketch design that will need further decisions to be made to be able to build so can't be relied on as construction drawings. "Should I get building companies in and hope they will have a "pet "architect who can advise me?" You can do this but most builders work with technologists and not architects because they are cheaper. If budget is your highest priority then this might be OK for you. But if you are looking for more quality then you will get a better result working with an architect first and then going to a builder with a complete set of construction drawings. "Should I get a kitchen/interior designer in and if so will they advise on the whole project or just the kitchen layout?" It depends if your architect offers kitchen design or not. This is something that I offer in my Build Package. Some architects do offer this and some don't. If you are looking at getting an extension built then you need an architect, not an interior designer. Hope this helps!
