White windows / grey doors

I’m sure this has been discussed a million times but does anyone have any thoughts on grey front door / white windows / red tiles on roof.

We have to replace our front door and I really love the grey doors as per the photo. But we have white windows, and no plans to replace them any time soon, can it work?

Has anyone done it and have you pics?!

What colour are your house bricks or render and what style is your house? Can you share a picture?

The house bricks are yellow and red tiles on the front. I’ve attached an old photo, the front door will be replacing the window next to the garage.

We have a very similar style of house and are also torn between playing it safe with white or light cream upvc windows to brighten the exterior or being a little more adventurous choosing grey. We are also having to replace all guttering, soffits and fascia ( we have 3 dormers to front and 3 at the back) so we are wondering about combining grey window frames, guttering and soffits with white fascias and white front door and white garage door. We are also supposed to decide by tomorrow but I am worried that getting it wrong will be a massive disappointment every time arrive home! i wish there was some way to "photoshop" the options onto an image of our house. Sorry not to offer any constructive advice but I found it reassuring to find another house owner struggling with a decision just like me!

Sliding doors are proving very popular at the moment as they can stack to one side and not protrude into the garden space and be easier to move than full set of bi-folds so that would an approximate opening of about 4m with 3 x 1.250m (plus frame ) panel of glass that would all stack in parallel inline. Or you could try panoramic doors they are more versatile as they are detachable from each other and give you more options for you layout at the finish. There a tutorial on you tube ? Do you have building control on these works as I am finding that architects are making us use a lot more steel as in a goal post design for stability, depending on how wide you want to go with the opening?

I think grey would look fine. White would stand out and contrast too much with the roof tiles. If you notice, windows actually look dark from the outside when the lights are off anyway. It's more discrete for the frame to be anthracite grey. I hope your project goes well!

ED- I understand people’s desire to personalise their houses but windows are often the only architectural feature of a modern otherwise plain looking homes (I concede that is not the case in older properties and not the case here) but in any case is the strongest feature to give a cohesive look to a neighbourhood. If you start loosing the cohesion thats when roads of houses look less desirable and in my opinion have lots less kerb appeal. I stand by the sentiment that in an attached property you have to respect your neighbourhood and streetscape more than in a detached property. In my opinion the examples below aren’t dreadful but do help you see that absence of cohesion

I think it will look great. Many people have coloured doors with white windows. Here’s a pic of a similar door with honey yellow bricks.

I've got a dark grey (anthracite) front door with white window frames. I went with a white door frame so it would fit in better with the windows. Photo is near end of garage conversion last year. I still need to finish off the porch 😕

I think it'll look good, but if you're keeping the garage door, you need to paint the garage door in the same colour as the front door I think.

Thank you for the replies, the doors look lovely. So hard to decide what to do! Definitely don’t want to make the wrong choice and then regret it.

Definitely replacing the garage door to match the new front door. Not a fan of the brown!
