Flooring Design Dilemma

PLEASE HELP with red oak floor stain - thanks so much!

Thanks so much for helping me! We have red oak floors we are staining. I am thankfully getting rid of the orange 2000's color! I would appreciate your opinions! I am attaching a bunch of pictures from different angles and times of day. I would like to steer away from trendy, and anything really red toned. I was thinking a brown. Also, we are painting our kitchen white, so that isn't a huge factor.

We are using Bona stains (and Bona water based poly) - I am not sure about adding gray to the mix?

The color right above the line is their Antique Brown (Bona Antique Brown looks a little different to me?), Provincial, and Jacobean is at the top. The two colors on the side are mixtures of those.

Ok, Im not familiar with this area, so this is what you need to look for. The plywood substrate of an engineered floor should be birch, particularly if you are fitting over underfloor heating, although some will recommend you don't. Look at the plywood part of your samples. It should be uniform and flat, this is as important as the topping of oak. Any buckles, rule it out. The oak layer is generally 3-8mm thick. Go for as thick as you can afford. Future sanding and refinishing no good on 3mm. You say you want matt varnish, I would consider Matt hard wax oil. This will give you a durable Matt finish however it is much easier to sand and refinish small areas of damage in the future. If you need any more help message me

Hi, your kitchen looks beautiful! came across threads as we too are currently debating diy kitchens cashmere or light grey, we have ordered cashmere and started to have doubts that it would be too dark. Though looking at yours I'm reassured again! I just wondered what wood worktop/and poss stain you have chosen? We looked at a solid wood oak but i thought it looked a bit yellowy. I have pine floors just like that! Well, yours look better. Learn to love them ;) Ours were hidden under hideous laminate when we moved in. Completely dirty and grey. We took them our because we insulated underneath. I took out all the nails, filled holes, sanded down, cut off bad parts, etc, then placed them back and added a clear coat of varnish (made sure to use paint for softwoods). It was pale after sanding and is now slowly turning warm yellow-orange again. Since powder pink doesn't look really great against it, we've painted our ceiling pink (the palest) and our walls and trim ral9010. And a very very dark moss in our dining area (open plan), some people think it's dark grey. Looks great with the pine!

Make sure your finisher has applied a coat of clear finish to the samples before attempting to evaluate them. It will change the color by bringing out the tone of the raw wood somewhat.

@duvall15501 its been a while since you posted and i came across you post trying to figure out what to put on my red oak floors. we have had a terrible go of it and now looking into bona Jacobean, bona medium brown, duraseal dark walnut and interested in the bona antique which you have posted. what did you end up selecting and are you happy with yoir floors?
