Extraction Help

We are in a bit of a dilemma. We are having an extension and our kitchen diner is a large room, half of it with a flat ceiling opening out into a pitched ceiling area.
Building regs mean we need some kind of extraction (I hate it never, used a hood or extraction but we have no choice).
The worktop with the hob on (ex display shown in the picture) will literally be a quarter into the flat ceiling bit but the majority into the pitched ceiling. We don't want a dropped ceiling in the pitched bit but if we put a ceiling extractor into the flat ceiling it won't be directly above the hob which will be in the pitched bit and I don't know if it would look a bit odd.
We can't change the layout we have the kitchen purchased......
