Stained glass bathroom curtain

We have a beautiful stained glass window in our bathroom. We would like this to be a feature and not hide it by blinds etc. Only problem is, it's quite transparent in the evening and against a bright light. We live in a period house and the window is just under 8ft in height and starts 1.5ft from floor. The bathroom is a dark green colour (Hunstman green) against white tile and brushed brass fittings. I would like a "floaty white" curtain falling to the floor but not sure of the type of material to choose? Voil seems too thin and won't solve the transparency issue. Any ideas?

A photo would be useful for other suggestions. BT my first thought is to ask whether there's room above the window to build a plain box pelmet, painted the same colour as the wall, to conceal a simple roller blind that could be pulled down for privacy but would be virtually invisible and not detracting from your feature window when raised?

We are still working on our new house, there is currently a bath with a glass half screen that is totally useless. The water bounces off whoever is showering past the screen and over the toilet, the floor, the ceiling, and it's only a half tiled wall so the wallpaper is peeling. I've considered the P or d shaped baths which give a larger section at one end in which to stand when using the shower and I've seen there are matching curved glass screens to go with them. Two points to consider. 1. If you are not planning on staying a shower could be a good selling point, the water saving of a shower versus a bath. Our last bath hardly saw a look in during 16 years and although it was a lovely deep double ended steel bath it gathered dust and the shower was definately the go-to choice. 2. I am now considering the usability of the bathroom for an elderly relative who has had a stroke, likes baths, but may not be able to get into, or out of one, with dignity intact. I'm thinking that a large walk in shower with additional wall jets could be a good option and the upscale could be a wow factor. Although you may not be in the same position you can never have enough forward planning.

Hi Senspasce and thank you my husband works for a large tile manufacturer and the tiles where purchased on slight seconds and a great tiler who works all over the world did the tiling beautifully. The design was copied from the company brochure so I knew it was foolproof design in its day which was over 20yrs ago so not done so bad really certainly had my moneys worth. The window is very heavily obsurced glass with leaded design so does not need blinds which cannot be fitted as casement to window is not deep enough I have had curtain treatment on expandable rod but like the light and openness. I prefer a bath we use to have shower on bracket with a shower curtain when I had new mixer and taps I did away with them to open the room up and getaway from water mold building up we use bath mat on floor when showering and not a problem with no screen a lot less cleaning too never a problem without them.

my bathroom was this exact shape and had the window too. I got a shower blind. It attaches to the ceiling and rolls down like a window blind. The casing is metal and the roller blind is plastic. you can get a long arm and a short arm to join together to fit above the length if the bath and the end of the bath. I had mine roll down to the long side and the short end beside the sink. If you Google for shower blinds you should find it. I think it was a German company that made them. worked really well and after it had dried you could roll it up to the ceiling out of the way.

We have a set up which is pretty good, I think: We have the Bette Ocean bath which has a large internal size, and one straight end, so is good for showering in. Any bath with fairly slim sides and one straight end should work. We have a glass bath screen that folds inwards flat against the wall. For this you need a screen that pivots 180 degrees (ours is by Matki iirc). Our shower head is mounted high up so the screen clears it. The bath/shower controls are on the other wall so not in the way of the shower screen either - also avoids the wet arm issue. Finally, we have a bath filler mounted on the side of the bath, so no tap to bump against. hope this helps

Here you go! gorgeous window. I still think a box pelmet, painted in the same green and fixed just under the white coving, concealing a roller blind would work really well.
