What colour walls in living room and open plan kitchen with mid grey s

Hi, I have a mid grey sofa, the living room is very open plan with the kitchen so needs to all e the same colour, the units in the kitchen are a light wood with a dark countertype and light floor (I'm open to changing the floor).
The living room has a large French door so plenty of light comes, I will be changing the carpet so open to suggestions for that as well.
