Bedroom advice to match wardrobe

Hey, I’m looking for some advice on what type of other bedroom furniture you would match with this wardrobe (especially what type of bed), beyond that what colours would you go for, the room is bare at the moment (no flooring, plain walls with wainscoting on the wall where the bed goes).

Hi,

Thank you for the fast reply, it’s a fairly small room so ideally I’d like to try and keep it bright, although still masculine (I’m a single mid-30’s guy and the only person in the house).

The room, although small has two windows along the main exterior wall that are almost from floor to ceiling and it’s south-west facing so gets most light on an afternoon and evening.

The wardrobe isn’t set in stone, I just have an opportunity to get it fitted for free from a family member that ordered it for a property renovation but never ended up using it (if I could work it into the room design that would be great as it’s a saving I can place elsewhere in the room/property).

I’m unsure if this helps or not but I’m a big lover of wood and it’s natural feel it brings to a room, I’m not fond of glass or fully mirrored wardrobes.

Hi Lauren, we're too far away to be of too much help, but the product range we offer most office is theCrown Living / Lifespace range. They have a huge range of door colours/styles (Over 120 at last count!) in matts, gloss, sparkes, painted woods/woodgrains, metalics etc. and a very flexible system. We recently came up against Sharps, and our quote for a similar configuration/style was around half the price of Sharps. If you pick carefully your styles and mix of units, it can be very good value. You could find your local dealer at this link. Alternatively if you struggle to track down a dealer, we could quote for supply only and have delivered direct to you if you have your own fitter lined up, though obviously we are too far away to offer our usual levels of service.

Hi Laura Yes, take a peek on my home page at the project there. This is one I did for him. As the wardrobes were already fitted, I used "cubby storage which has bins for his jeans etc. There are also further boxes to store pjs etc. When it comes to using bins or boxes to store clothes, I would advise not using anything that stacks - always go for drawers or one bin/box per cubby. If you have to move one box to get to another then it becomes a bit of a trial and things tend to become untidy quickly. thanks Jill

Hi Jo. Love your scheme I think it will look gorgeous! Personally I think a bit of real wood would look great against the blue and add a natural element (need to be a bit careful against the pink though!). I saw this pair of beauties in a charity shop, probably not quite right but I think it would be worth following your instincts and holding out for what you wanted rather than going for second best. Everyone is in such a hurry to have everything finished and perfect immediately but a house, style and furniture evolve over time, so if you can be patient and deal with clothes elsewhere for a bit you may get your dream cupboards! Hi, not sure why the alcove near the bed can’t have ceiling height wardrobes? Are you worried that the wardrobe will hit the bed, is that the problem? Maybe sliding doors would be better? I had fitted wardrobes installed by Sharpes, and the salesman was really helpful in configurating how it should all fit, including an awkward stair box area. He really knew his stuff. Am very pleased with the wardrobes, all built bespoke by an amazing carpenter. We were very impressed! Hopefully you will get lots of advice on here, and maybe you should get some companies/carpenters in to measure and quote. Mine cost just over £3000 for 6 and a half doors, rails, shelving etc.

If the wardrobe fits in your room, go for it. It's really nice! I'd go for light grey carpet and paint and an upholstered bed, to soften it all. I also think that an upholstered bed looks more luxurious. You could pick a darker colour for the wall behind the headboard. Then you could use wooden night stands to tie in with the wardrobe. What do you think of something like this Matson bed from Next? It's on feet, so you can see the floor under it which will make the room visually larger than a bed that goes all the way to the floor. It comes in different colours and fabrics.

This bedside table is the Bronx, also from Next (just because I had their website open anyway). On my screen it looks like it comes fairly close to the wooden door of your wardrobe.

I've only picked some examples for you to visualise what you could choose. I'm sure there are lots of shops with similar items, if you like the look of what I've picked :-)

I hadn’t thought of an upholstered bed, I’d only really been looking at solid oak ones but I really like the one you’ve linked from Next (I do like a lot from the Next range if I’m honest) and the bedside tables would definitely tie in with the finish on the wardrobe.

I’ll have a bit of a browse through what they’ve got, thank you for the help so far :)
