What is the exact colour name for the cabinets?

That colour is so beautiful, I would like to use it for our kitchen to paint our lower cabinets.

Hi Lisa, the paint colour is Benjamin Moore Gray Wisp CC-670. It is a bit greener in person than shown on this picture.

Hi Freckle Frog I really like what you've got going there. And I actually think the dining room light matches your art work -- the curved stems and the cup shape of the lights mimics a bunch of tulips. Colour wise, for your kitchen I think whites with your existing cabinets could be too tricky. The neutral, pale greys with a touch of green tones will pick up the colour of the dining room cabinet and blend beautifully with any type of cream kitchen cabinet. I would stay clear of blue grey -- unless there's lots of red brick and heavy timbers in the room, it is just too cold for too long up north of the 49th! I used Farrow and Ball's pale powder in my north facing office in Vancouver and it feels warm through the sleety winters and cool enough in the summer. *Bonus* Farrow and Ball paints are from Britain, and the colour palette reflects the colour schemes of Cotswold cottages and London townhouses. They have sample tins! Try skylight, light blue or pale powder. These may also satisfy your sense of nostalgia a bit.

I think you need to start with the F&B colour card. Hold it up against the walls in the kitchen. See what appeals and what looks dim and boring. Then get tester pots of the colours you like and paint large pieces of cardboard and place those around the room. It will give you an idea of what works in your kitchen. Since you already have the floor(? In another part of the house?), you can see which ones work with the floor too. I like your idea of grey with a green undertone. If I'm not mistaken I think Downpipe has a blue undertone. F&B suggest colour combos on their website. Could you post photos of your kitchen? So we can see the space?

How’s the artificial lighting? Have you considered a mirrored splashback behind the oven? I’d put a normal mirror there (whilst the oven isn’t on!) to see what a difference it makes. The curtains and coats also look as if they’re blocking light. Maybe you could remove everything temporarily to see what the light is like? You could also consider something like Dulux light and space on your ceiling which reflects a lot more light than standard paints or I have little Greene intelligent eggshell on my kitchen walls which has a sheen level of 15% (not good for any imperfections in the plaster though!).The wood doesn’t seem to be reflecting much light at all so I’m sure painting them is probably going to help anyway unless you go really matt. I think this is maple but still lookI think if you add more cabinets they will sit very well as long as the proportions match- You could also change all the handles so that they match. As far as a contrast colour you can choose ivory, brown, a brown grey, sage green and I think vibrant colours will also work like teal
