Is that ok to place a ceiling extractor on wall units side

Hi ,
We are thinking to place a 'ceiling extractor fan' instead of extractor fan in a unit . I know usually everyone places the ceiling extractor fan on top of island if the hob is on the island.
but because for the look and clean view we are thinking to place the ceiling extractor fan on top the hob.
Because of few reasons we got the hob next to window ( fire safety regulations distance checked already).
Are we going to have problems in future? I know it is a bit silly. but just thinking about it ? is it possible ?
any advice really helpful.

Comments (6)I'm sorry to say that you would be throwing good money after bad. The type of extractor you've linked to is a bathroom model. These gently extractor moist air over a period of time. technically it extracts 220m3 per hour. Even the most basic 'cheap' cooking extractors will deal with 3 times that volume and good ones will extract 6 or 7 times that volume. In real terms that would mean you need between 4 to 7 of those extractors to do the job of what a single dedicated cooking extractor could achieve. Comments (26)Hello :) We have now plastered and painted first coat of white paint.. now deciding on the type of tiles.. we like the idea of Moroccon style tiles on the floor.. but as the bathroom is pretty narrow.. having a feature on the wall is a bit akward.. Our bathtub will be on the right and toilet under the window (same position as old layout) as all plumbing is already there. Unsure whether to have a concealed cistern toilet unit which can make the area look neater.. But I can't seem to find a good quality looking concealed unit (floor to under window measurement 98cm) width available is 50cm..or should i just go for a standard normal toilet. On the right after the bathtub we will have space for a double vanity sink unit.. opposite wall have a vertical stainless steel radiator... Unsure whether to go for a towel warmer or a vertical radiator? The bathroom will not have underfloor heating. Room dimensions are (length 335cm width 125cm) Any design ideas etc will be appreciated. Comments (40)Hi there. Looking for some related advice. We''re also ordering a new kitchen and are trying to decide on an extractor. The only issue is that the ceiling is about 3.25-3.5m high so everyone keeps telling us to have a bulkhead over the island as a ceiling mounted extractor will be inefficient otherwise (we're told a height of more than 1.5m above the hob is the maximum; ours will be about 2.2m...). We really don't want anything hanging from the ceiling over the kitchen island as it is in an open space and will ruin the whole open plan concept. Do you know of any flush ceiling mounted extractors with motors which are strong enough to work at that height? Currently looking at Falmec, Sirius and Frecan but would love to hear your suggestions. Comments (15)Hi Tony. I think having the tv at an angle and building the cupboard out a little is probably the best option if you didn’t want to downsize the tv. Regarding speakers, ceiling speakers are a good idea if you’re in the construction phase, they usually come in pairs (left and right) and four would be more than adequate for a large room. You would need the ceiling speaker hoods as well for fire and sound protection. Also the necessary wiring would need to be hidden and all speaker wires go to an AV receiver which then connects to tv ( I think...not really an expert on this). Have a look at Richer sounds website, they should have lots of info: https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/in-wall-ceiling-speakers.html @ Jonathan, I can feel my hubby’s horrified look if he heard you say that TVs alone have adequate speakers ;-) (he is a perfectionist when it comes to tech stuff mind). We prefer freestanding speakers so we can upgrade as and when. And finally is the fireplace already existing? If not (at the risk of offending other Houzzers:)) maybe consider tv set into chimney breast above a low ribbon style fire, perhaps bio ethanol fuel as these wouldn’t need a flue.
