bathroom wall colour dilemma
Comments (3)Hi Diana If you want to address the flooring, you could break up the brown by using a vinyl 'rug' on top of the existing Amtico. Graham & Green do a lovely one (https://www.grahamandgreen.co.uk/moroccan-tile-mats) And there are lots of other less costly versions around (try e.g. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/251849071/floor-vinyl-rug-vinyl-mat-tiles-pattern?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=vinyl mat&ref=sr_gallery_22) You could then choose the wall colour to tie in with whichever rug you choose. Alternatively, you could go for a warm grey tone that will work well with the marble and still be warm enough to carry the floor. Something like Farrow & Ball Cornforth White (although I would definitely get a tester of this before committing to it - it has a remarkable ability to change colour depending on the light in your room!). Comments (10)Shahina is correct, having the bathroom opening straight in to the living or dining room isn't a good idea. Therefore, i'd do something more like this:- However, you'd be well advised to remove the fireplace from the dining area to give more room, although it may be just big enough to suffice with it in situ. You definitely do not have room for a corner sofa and another sofa in the lounge area, so something will have to give there. You would have room for say a 3 seater, an armchair, and maybe a footstool for occasional use. May I ask the reason for needing a full bathroom in this position?...See MoreCan’t decide on light or dark floor in bathroom
Comments (29)Hi Tommy-LEE, both the light and dark tiles you’ve shown look very good. My old bathroom, I put in dark grey whilst my bathroom now, I’ve got light grey. Both bathrooms have a lot of light and light and dark both worked well. The biggest difference for me is actually maintenance as in how dirt and watermark shows up. We’re a barefoot household with two dogs and I like to maintain almost like a 5 star hotel. Somehow light grey doesn’t show up dirt as much when we vacuum just once a week. With the dark grey tiles, I had to vacuum more frequently, which isn’t great as I work long hours during the week. Apart from the colour, the difference between the tiles is that the dark tiles we had was smooth and light one we’ve now is more concrete like with texture. That might be a reason. In addition to the look, if ongoing maintenance is something you’d like to optimise, worth taking account how the colour and texture affects it....See MoreWhisper grey bathroom suite and can't afford to much change.
Comments (10)I don't know what your taste is but I think you could definitely make this bathroom feel very clean and modern. As you suggest changing the tiles would help. You could go for plain tiles but hung in an interesting pattern or with coloured grout. I would consider tiling across the whole of the wall with the loo on and then streamlining the accessories. Maybe one largish mirrored cabinet (look at IKEA Godmorgen) which would combine storage and mirrors that you currently have. I would also get your tiler to tile a bath panel for you. A lighter floor (maybe a mid-grey lino?) would lift the room also. I'm not sure I'd bother changing the basin, it might be difficult to get a colour match and putting something white there in between the two grey things would look a bit off I think....See MoreMaria McGuigan
