Kitchen/Living room ideas needed!
Comments (12)Hi Laura. Congratulations on the new home! Have you thought about putting the sofa on the back wall and moving the TV to where the sofa is? I think it would work nicely with the shelves. You can then add a floor lamp and picture gallery on the back wall similar to what's pictured with a tall potted plant in the other corner to make a nice focal point. I'd go for a pale grey For the walls, dulux dusted moss 2 is nice but check undertones with your sofa. Your dining chair looks more of a deep coral so would bring a little in for cushions (maybe white and coral patterned to lighten the sofa) and also some texture, a faux sheepskin is always good for a scandi look. You could then add splashes of green or blue for art etc. Some faux stems would be great on the dining table (I like cox and cox's eucalyptus in their glass bottle vase for something simple and they give height). Hard to tell from table pics but could you add an arc light to zone the dining area as you don't have any ceiling lights? Your kitchen looks great, I have to admit if it were mine though I'd be tempted to paint it a soft white and remove some of the wall units and have some shelves instead....See MoreVictorian Semi - Kitchen Renovation Help & Advice Needed!
Comments (15)Re the lounge area don’t forget it will not have any natural light once doors are closed, it looks quite dark already although that may just be the photo. Definitely consider some roof lights in the roof section that is replacing the conservatory as that will bring more light into the dining area and the lounge through whatever opening you choose. Maybe use glass doors between lounge and diner?...See MoreSprucing up a retro kitchen
Comments (12)That yellow really looks fab! The countertop not so much.. But good to know it's in good condition. Look for a color that goes with the yellow and the counter, like an orange or navy and paint just the wooden trim, as it clashes most with the brown on top of it. Tiles could be painted an offwhite, if you'd like. Tile paint is rather durable (when not walked upon). Add something fun like a retro roller blind. Or a crazy vinyl such as the atrafloor Cindy (I was just checking Jules' link) http://www.shadesofstafford.co.uk/roller-blinds/ And some more blinds on here: https://www.orderblinds.co.uk/buy/orla-kiely-multi-stem-tomato-soft-fabric-roller-blind_4704.htm Or some fun starbursts here: https://20thcenturycloth.com/roller-blinds/ Can't stop: https://www.brewershome.co.uk/products/blinds/roller_blinds/scion/lintu/gecko-pacific-glacier/140098...See MoreLightening an oak table
Comments (1)You’d need to sand it back and then have a look at osmo- they do white/grey oils/waxes that you can build up layers for more pigment, or keep a more natural look to the wood without it yellowing. I’d prob do the table top and then paint the legs in a chalk paint just to cut down on the prep as that can go on top without heavy sanding needed and a more modern look but that’s just me!...See MoreJackie Ruell
