Crittall style doors
I am looking to put some kind of doorway in here to separate hall and kitchen spaces, but keep the light coming through. I am thinking a crittall style door. As there is nothing there, and the size is not a standard doorway size I'm looking for a company to do the lot but not having much luck. Any ideas of where to look? Or thoughts on what else might work? I am wondering whether the metal will work with the white pvc external windows and doors and wooden internal door opposite this space.

Comments (8)This is similar to another post on here, where they are nearing the end of the build and are now starting to think about furniture placement. You have to do the furniture from the off set, otherwise you run the risk of not being able to lay out a room well. Your husband may not want to indent the room too much visually but i'm sure you will want a T.V in the lounge area, so you need to work out where you will put the sofa and T.V before you build. Hopefully the 2.2 metres is the internal space not the external, is there a reason why it's so narrow? It's going to be difficult to put the furniture in there regardless due to the size restriction. I've just measured our dining table, and when you pull the chairs out either side in order to sit down from chair to chair it measures 2.1 metres, so you can see just how tight the space will be. As you see from the renders above I had to move the furniture backwards in to the existing room in order to fit it in............so it's really important to think about it carefully. Comments (4)Hi Katy, What beautiful choice you have! Love crittal style doors/windows. Ok so what I suggest is to think about how you are going to use the doors - sounds weird, but if you are carting large bits in and out I suggest sliding doors. Also if you like to see the view without doors blocking the view then sliders are the way forward. However if you quite like the look of French doors opening out then go for those. Rather than having a door and glass panel made to the exact size it would be more cost effective to put in a standard sized door in a new stud wall.
There are lots of wood doors that are glazed and have the look of a virtual steel door but at a lower price point:

Bare in mind it will always have doggy nose prints on it.
Also don’t forget this type of door will need an extra long door latch (so that the handle is in the intended place and not weirdly close to the edge) so make sure you use a really good joiner to put the door in.
