What Colour Grey?

Hi,
I have recently moved into my first home and struggling with choosing colours that match.
I have sofas ordered and they are a very light grey (they are classed as silver).
I can't wallpaper due to the awkward sizing of the living room with what would be the accent wall so I am limited to paint for now.
The room itself doesn't have much natural light so I think darker grey would be too dark however with the sofas being so light I'm worried a lighter grey would be dreary/cold looking.
In the living room there is a black spiral staircase which I was originally going to have a black rug, black furnishings, but I am struggling to imagine it. I'm very much into classy Rock n Roll themes which is where the black ties in. Any help on what shade grey to go on the walls would be much appreciated.

Lovely sofa. I think pale grey walls can work if you accessorise a lot. Your idea of black would work in picture frames, patterned cushions and coffee table/side tables (see first picture). I also think a grey-green would work (2nd pic). I wouldn’t get a pure black rug as it could be light sapping, but a subtle pattern may go. Here’s some ideas

Hi The great thing about grey is that it is a neutral and can be pretty much mixed with anything:-) A few pieces and possibly prints in duck egg, black , a copper lamp or table, and you have your scheme. I have attached a few images below just to show you the diverse range of options and how anything goes. I don't know if your style is contemporary or more relaxed but the same theories apply - Interiors in my opinion look more interesting when things are not too matchy matchy. If you bought a copper/brass influenced, coffee table, lamp, side table, duck egg throw, a couple of cushions with duck egg and maybe white, black or muted green, a vase in teal, black etc. I know you get the idea. It can cost as little or as much as your budget allows and as you find pieces or things you love, they will all fit in beautifully but it will have a lovely relaxed feel. Hi There, I would perhaps use this lovely pastel pink, looks really nice with light greys and because its pastel would go with the lemon colour on the wall covering.You could then add scatter cushions in either lemon, pink or light grey.

Hi Laurenandjames. I love your kitchen / diner. I am in the process of having an extension and I have Howdens Tewkesbury Stone kitchen and Ice White Quartz worktops ready to be fitted. Is the wallpaper from B&Q? Also what colour paint did you go for on the rest of the walls? I was a bit worried about the stone colour as in some lights it looks brown and not the grey I was after. Hi, Could you provide a little more information about the room and style you are ofter, for instance the aspect of the room as this will determine how the greys appear; if it's a North facing room a blue tone will be accentuated, making the room feel a little drab; do you have any furniture such as bedside tables, bed, wardrobes you want to incorporate into the scheme, would it be possible to upload an image of the prints, maybe there's a colour on there you could pick out for the walls (or a complementary colour)? I think you could go for dark walls but I wouldn't go for overly dark walls, such that the black frames of the prints are hidden. I would go for a light or mid-sole grey with a green undertone. You don't have an ideasbook set up so I'm not sure if this is the look you're after but Here are some inspiration pictures! All the Best!

Thank you for those ideas... I am liking the first photo with the black detailing. Here are photos of the room in question, this was the previous owners (photos are before I moved in) at the minute it is almost entirely empty except for a TV. I know the blue is going to be a nightmare to cover and it goes all the way up to the landing which is why I need the colour to be right as once it's done, it won't be touched again for a long, long time.

I’ve just had a navy blue wall repainted with a lovely green blue and it only took 2 coats and it was a lot darker than your blue, but not as bright! Your room looks great and has so much potential.
