Mock Tudor facade improvements - help!
Comments (3)Hi, there was a similar query on here previously. I can’t seem to post the link but if you search on Houzz for ‘mock Tudor external’, you should find it. There are some nice examples of beams painted in soft greys / neutrals....See MoreNew windows with mock tudor house query.
Comments (6)My first thought was that I'd aim to match your door, windows, and boards, and that the pale grey you've chosen is a good one to go for. When I thought about it a bit longer, I remembered that your house is brick, not rendered. Pale tudor boards on a white house looks great, because it's a subtle contrast. Against brick, pale tudor boards would be a huge contrast. I wonder if pale grey windows and dark grey boards would work? It would show that you've considered the whole, rather than just replacing parts piecemeal, but it wouldn't be as stark as pale grey. Here's just the windows: Here's the effect with matching boards: And here it is with medium grey boards: I took the pebble grey and darkened it a bit. I think it looks quite smart! You could go lighter still, maybe just a shade or two darker than the windows. You could also go darker so it's more similar to the current effect, but clearly harmonised....See MoreMock Tudor timber replacement
Comments (0)I have recently acqacquired a Mock Tudor house. All the black timber is rotten which was reflected in the purchase price, but i need advice on how to replace it. I want timber not plastic. Do i get treated timber and use black creosote, or creocote (whatever it’s called these days) ? I have read online that the stucco will be inbetween the timbers, but mine is clearly a fully rendered and painted top half of the house, and the timbers which are hanging off seem to have remnants of rusty nails in them. Should i use masonry nails when putting the new timber up? or use screws? i guess screws means more accuracy required for measuring and marking out holes for the rawl plugs. Thanks, Dan...See MoreReplace mock tudor help please!!!
Comments (4)I know a lot of people are going off the mock Tudor beams but cladding often looks as bad, have you considered painting the beams instead? they can look great in greys? This thread asked the same question as you, and they ended up painting them instead and really liked them, take a look ;) https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/6090267/i-want-to-remove-the-mock-tudor-look-and-render#n=48...See MoreCez
