Wall colour suggestions for sun lounge

I have just had the floor retiled in pale grey and am having two new moss green sofas.

The room has a vaulted ceiling and plenty of windows and is therefore nice and bright, the skirtings and window cills are oak and there will be an oak cabinet and a grey with oak trim book cabinet.

Any suggestions for wall colour please ?

Well you certainly have a GREAT sofa to start with - love it! There are so many directions you can go in with this sofa color and a green chair. I think before you do anything else you should have a color plan, a guide too direct you. I created an app called Color911. ( find out more about it at Color911.com) You can create your own palette of colors OR take/find a photo of something that inspires you and pull the colors from it.. or check out the color themes. Within the app are many pre-made color themes that are colors that all work beautifully together. You can choose any number of colors within a theme and use the colors for everything from wall color to accent colors to colors .. you name it. I have been an award winning color consultant and have authored two best selling books on color. I created the color themes myself. If you find a theme that inspires you it can be great fun to shop for anything when you have the theme to use as your guide. Each of the themes are different. I attached a color theme that has neutrals to match your sofa and green for your chair. There were many different themes within the Color911 app that matched this requirement, this is just one of them. I hope it inspires you!

Hi Sian! I would not recommend painting the wall red or green as per se. If you have a small room and furniture is red/green you need to be careful with wall colour, I suggest keeping it as neutral as possible. Soft/dark grey is a safe choice and looks good in contrast to red. It would be good to see the rest of the furniture for a better perspective, perhaps you can take photos with your phone? Check out the option below for colours. Considering your description of the room, I would think about Fashionable grey or Moroccan brown (disregard the blue and brick colours) ? See below the options, from this palette you can also think about grey owl or similar.

Hello Dub M, Well it also depends on what else colour wise you're choosing for your scheme.. Whether you want bold and dramatic or whether you want something lighter in feel... Using them sparingly with a lot of plain in between or perhaps as boarders can then lend themselves to accent rather than statement... All depends on what you want from them as they're versatile! For pale schemes.. Think of colours such as creams, wheat and pale sun hued creams with hints of yellow.. Light and earthy tones on the cream, wheat, canvas, hessian colours perhaps beige and pale mustards, or pale golden creams and burnt siena with hints of brown,ochres .. For bold consider dark almost purple blues and hints of mauve.. Also Charcoal and greys with black and brown hues... For a warm but dramatic look.. The colours are chalky and have depth... Include wood work and again wall covering is versatile in that it could be half height or whole height.. Put tiles and colours together to see what you like.. Paint onto squares of paper no less than A4 and place them where you might want to use them.. Look throughout the day to see how they react and interact with their space and the changing light.. From one colour you can begin to mix it to blend and become another.. In this way you can see colours interact with each other. Use versions of them by working with lighter and or darker varieties of the chosen colour.. Here's a doodle to show the colours blue and others I'm suggesting so you can see the blue is still quite dominant. I rather like blue and elements of yellows, old golds and creams.. Look at the tiles themselves too for inspiration... : ))

Go and get some paint colour cards, bring them home and place near the rads, narrow it down to a couple and then purchase tester pots. Paint pieces of A4 paper and see what it looks like on a bigger area, then buy the paint. It's not practical to suggest paint or colours as everybody's rooms have different light, therefore, the same paint won't look identical one wall to another. Dulux for instance must have at least 3 or 4 dozen shades of off white and grey that would work. Greys or Blues are your best bet for a calm atmosphere. You can go light or dark depending on your preference - Personally, I love some of the dark slate blues around at the moment, coupled with light furniture.
