Wondering what to put around this plant?
Comments (5)Hi The Cordyline you have planted will get a bit taller over time so you could put a hard detail around the base of it, but I'd be tempted to by three small ground cover shrubs that will tolerate the shade. Perhaps something like Hebe rakaiensis or Euonymus 'Emerald n Gold'. These will naturally spread and create a lower level of interest and just grow over the gravel area in a neat ring. They can also be pruned to keep the shape. If you wanted to go a bit more formal, you could plant a ring (square or circle) of Buxus sempervirens. Hope that helps....See MoreArea around new inset stove - I could do with some advice!
Comments (18)Hi, the only thing I would say is put the fire on and see how hot it gets. We have a gas inserted fire, a little bit like yours but it really belts out the heat. We had an oak mirror on the wall above it and it got so hot we were really concerned that it would burn! We didn't want a full mantel piece so we bought an oak "shelf" to absorb the heat, then put the mirror above that. Now I am not worried about the mirror. I still have to switch the fire off after a couple of hours as the wood "shelf" gets really hot, but I am not worried that anything of value will get damaged. If the shelf gets a bit black (it hasn't so far) I won't mind. I definitely would not put a TV over a fire for all the above reasons. Hope that helps a little....See MoreWhat to do with this wall/sideboard??
Comments (6)Hi Leigh - Depending on whether you think you'll ever want to open these windows, I would get a an ornamental glass insert (i.e. on a wooden frame) to fit into the opening, making them into features. There are stained glass options, or you could find something a little more modern that suits the rest of your décor. Good luck!...See Morewhat sideboard would you keep
Comments (32)The STRING system is nice but unfortunately the widest module is 80cm, it will definitely not work with a TV. The main thing to keep in mind is that in your case the system should not be chosen in the color of natural wood. Black or white. Porada has a beautiful system with a TV unit, but quite expensive - https://www.porada.it/ContentsFiles/aria_compressed_-1977128945.pdf The easiest solution would be to make a bespoke unit that fits exactly the size you need....See Morevittoriadanino
