Porch : Wood floor or tiles?

Is it a good idea to put wood floor at the entrance or tiles are better. As it is va high traffic area i wonder if it gets worn out too quickly

I have a wooden floor in my hallway but a large mat. Depends on how much traffic is going to use it though as there are only 2 of us.

Tiles are easier to clean as long as they’re non slip.

Thank you Daisy. My concern is around winter time. Getting in the house with wet shoes, etc.. is it going to fade over time? We are going to have engenenered oak floors as we installed underfloor heating

Hi I'm in the process of buying a property which has wood effect tiles too in the kitchen and hall. I have opted to have Karndean flooring in my lounge which also opens up to the garden so I didn't want carpet. They come in many styles so maybe have a look at these? I have chosen one around £25per sq m which is the cheapest range. They are basically VInyl planks that get glued to your floor. Easy to clean and you don't have to worry about water warping the planks. Hope his helps

The tiles were lifting by the patio doors, so they lifted 2 rows and then realised they couldn't get the same shade of tile. We also then found out they had laid ceramic rather than porcelain, so other houses had reported lots of chips in the tile - so they agreed to take up several houses floors!

Ok - so we all have different appreciations for different things... personally I love a patterned floor tile and I also love the mellow calm of wood as well ... do you want a calm warm space that relaxes you or a jazzy interesting space that rev’s you up for the day ahead ? As these changes change the mood of the place, as well as the look.

I have wood effect laminate in my hall and it has fared really well. Just a mop over cleans it. Porcelain tiles are really tough and easy to clean so would be great in a hall - just don’t choose anything too pale as it will show every mark. I have porcelain in my kitchen.

Mine hasn’t faded and has been down for many years. It does however have a couple of scratches in it.

You could have the whole porch “carpeted” in a coir mat.
