Comments (19)As far as flooring goes, you can get light colour carpets which are bleach cleanable. I have a grey feature wallpaper in my bedroom, but the other walls a much lighter colour. I did want white carpets but was concerned about going too light, so went for a pale cream instead. Had very thick underlay so it feels luxurious. Stains have so far come out brilliantly just using stain remover foam, including a spilled bottle of berry cider and brown tinted dry shampoo which accidentally emptied all over the carpet. Haven't even had to try the bleach yet. We have the same carpet in the children's bedrooms because it goes with everything and is so practical....See MoreNeed gender neutral colour scheme for spare bedroom
Comments (11)It sounds to me that the room needs some pattern and the wallpaper idea will sort that. If you are trying to avoid florals there are lots of geometric or retro patterns you could consider. You then likely need an additional accent colour and the earlier comment is right that pink goes very well with navy- but so do most other colours- in my opinion the navy is such a strong choice the accent should perhaps be a softer pastel colour but teal, white, coral, and brassy golds also contrast....See MoreWhat colour for a dark north-facing bedroom?
Comments (8)I don't understand what 'would be hard to live with' means to be honest. I also agree that advice on this subject is totally contradictory, which doesn't help. The colour of light in a North facing room is quite blue, so anything like a pale grey with a blue tinge will look even bluer. Some people like that, but I personally wouldn't, I find cold rooms depressing. If you want a neutral, then you go across the wheel and select one that is a bit warmer and has some red or orange in and that will create a colour that when combined with the blue light is a neutral. Joa's White, Dimity or colours like that, will look quite neutral in a North facing room. Another option is to go for a more saturated colour such as a yellow, as this can break through the greyness. If you go for a pale colour, then anything like a creamy green could look sickly, so a more definite green would work. If you go for a pale neutral then red based ones will help. I tried about twenty in my kitchen and drove myself nuts! 'Joanna' by Little Greene is a brilliant neutral with a tinge of red in it, that may be worth a look....See MoreBlank canvas grey bedroom, what would you do with it?
Comments (51)Yes you’re right about that Love your home bed, the wings are deeper than our wardrobes (which are half recessed) so if we had little shelf bedsides they’d be really hard to reach, we‘d have to sit up and reach around the wings. If I’m honest I don’t think we can face doing anything too complicated like false wall or moving the sockets to allow for the full width headboard! New lights.... maybe... husband is predictably Not Keen. So, I think that boils it down to the naturalmat Prideaux bed, in linen 😁 with the bigger headboard size if they will do that. I’m up for painting that section of wall though - we could either use the mid grey green shown on the door, or a much darker grey green (the mid is Blanket and the dark is Squid Ink, both Paint & Paper library). If we use the mid paint then the bed colour would be dark and vice versa. Linen curtains - need to look at all my samples in the room later on today! Not heard of vinterior, I will have a browse. 😁 Yes I hope the cat is real!...See MoreAnnie Barnes
