stair case banister suggestions

Should we do the glass banister/railing here or the wooden beams that go down
I’m swaying to the wooden beam look
Any other ideas??

I think wooden beams would suit the space better. Personally think that glass bannisters work better on stairs with a more open layout.

My friend had her bannister changed to glass and it looks really good, bright and airy. Does show up the fingerprints though!

Hi @robert-jones53, I do have the details, he was local to Petersfield, Hampshire so depends on where you are located. We ordered all the parts from this company called Multi Turn, in Twyford. They supplied and delivered all the parts and then came out on-site to measure and template the glass! Our carpenter then fitted the Glass. http://multiturn.co.uk/ ED - I appreciate this is an ancient post, but some reason people keep coming back. I think that back bedroom would end up being too small the second way. As it would probably be about 5'8 at the narrowest end. The house is worth more with private access for both bedrooms as stated. Check with an estate agent. Just go with the landing on the left and leave the staircase. Save the pennies for something that will also add value, and that is, taking down the wall that divides the kitchen, getting rid of the downstairs loo ( unnecessary in a two up two down ) Open up the kitchen, put french doors in from the dining room to the kitchen so that you can have them open and see the whole length out to the garden if you want, , bi-folds out to the garden etc

It's interesting the mention of Insta. We were talking about this the other day - what looks good on a tiny square does not necessarily translate to real life. Things need to have impact on a small square to draw the eye, but in real life you need to live in a space and feel comfortable. I think we have all been sucked in at times! Anyway, Forza's previous mention about Skimming Stone is a good one. Greys tend to be blue based, green based or violet based. Blue based can look urban and tend towards cool, green based or violet based may be the way to go. Little Greene Slaked Lime is good, Skimming Stone woodwork, Elephants Breath walls Farrow and Ball etc.

Paint colour suggestions for hallway, stairs and landing

Hiya, we have a Victorian hallway and it is done very similar to Rukmini’s first image. We have a greeny grey under the dado (including the skirting and dado itself) and on the doors and architraves. It’s Blanket by Paint & Paper library which is a little darker than Rukmini’s pic. Then an off white above the dado and on the ceiling. It used to be off white all over and the grey definitely has made it darker. On the other hand it also feels smarter and shows the marks less! Swings and roundabouts. I wouldn’t have three colours, I would pick one colour plus off white above the dado/picture rail (Pointing seems sensible!!) Your tiles look browny grey so would suggest looking at Ammonite by F&B and its family of colours - (Cornforth White, Purbeck Stone). See below for the F&B families of greys. If you want bluey or greeny greys then Paint & Paper Library are a good source but be careful to see if they will go with your tiles.
