Living Room - Sofa Layout Thoughts please?

The following is image is what the living room looks like. The floor is just screed and not the final finish. The final finish will be solid whitish/wheatish oak. The arrows signify where I wanted to put the sofa and up until now, I was sure I would buy a corner sofa where the long side of the sofa would go against the blue wall and the shorter side would go against the light grey wall:

I am now deliberating if I should go for a corner sofa or a 3 seater + 2 seater option where the 3 seater goes against the blue wall and the 2 seater goes against the light grey wall.

These are the SOFA styles I like:

3+2 - Mid Tone Grey no recline

Corner - Mid Tone Grey

3+2 - Light Grey

3+2 mid tone grey with recline

Any suggestions please?

If this is your only seating area for guests then I'd say get 2 sofas. Just having one sofa might be a bit too cosy!

Hi. I hope I got it right. You do not need kitchen upstairs and you want to turn whole floor to a relaxing area for you two. Right? See what I would do on the picture. You do not need to move or remove the fireplace if you set furniture around that it makes symmetry illusion. Placing to sofas opposite each other will serve symmetry and generous relaxing space for both of you. Instead of dining room I would place a nice comfy lounger with and arch lamp and side table and a bookcase along the wall to create a beautiful place for reading. Kitchen can be replaced by bedroom with a walk-in closet or whether is possible could be also en-suite. I have also different idea but information about you is not enough to make a proper suggestion.

Hi Sassy G, It's great how much natural light you are getting into this space from the patio doors and the light fixtures and fittings will help create the feel of a bigger space. For the Living Area: I would suggest a 2 seater against the back wall (as per your plan) and a small coffee table in front with your 2 cocktail chairs facing inwards. This helps create the feel of a separate living area but also accommodates for additional seating for guests. Or instead of the 2 cocktail chairs you could have an upholstered storage bench which doubles up as storage as well as seating. This is also great because it keeps the openness of the space. For the Kitchen: For the splashback I think a high gloss teal finish would look lovely here. It adds a splash of colour, its bright (but not too bright) and different and would look great against your current worktop. Paint ideas: Having an off white colour is a good choice for the living and dining area. You could also try two different paint colours for each of these rooms to help break up the space or incorporate a feature all paint colour such as Farrow and Ball 'Peignoir'. One of the things people tend to do when arranging furniture in a room is push all the furniture to the perimeter of the room. Bring the left sofa tighter into the middle of the room. Then place a narrow console behind it to give you an area for some slim lamps and some pretty bits, You could even have a narrow bookcase type thing on that wall. Let us know what you think if you try it :)

Hi all, I am defintely ruling out a corner sofa. I am going for a 3 seater and 2 seater with a burnt orange coloured accent arm chair. The floor is being put down between today and tomorrow, I will upload a new picture of it soon.

Room measures 3.5M wide and 5M I think in length.

So quick update here.

Option 1 was the most popular due to the design.

Option 4 was the second most popular due to the design + recline.

I bit the bullet and went with option 1. When I turned up it turned up the shop, they advised me that option 1s 3 seater is a recline!! Happy Days!! Got the best of both options and happy with it.

Sounds great! I’ve never liked the look of recliners but this one doesn’t look too bulky. I bet they are really cosy and relaxing. The burnt orange armchair will go beautifully.
