The grout almost looks gold/tan. Can you tell me more about the grout? You have listed above Charcoal grey.... not sure if we are talking about the same grout. I love the tan/gold look.

I am a tiler so its in my interest to persuade people to fit more tiles but I agree with the other people who are questioning why you want to do this. You can transform the room with wall paper as Kerosis suggests and if you tire of that in a few years it is easy to remedy. I always point out to people that tiles are put on the wall as a practical durable easy to clean surface and therefore it is often not necessary to put them everywhere. If you do decide to fit tiles then you should remove the paint on the walls 1st as that was only ever designed to hold itself on the walls and it doesn't matter how brilliantly your adhesive hangs onto that paint if the extra load causes the paint bond to fail then your tiles will no longer be bonded to the wall (no such problem with lightweight wallpaper :-) Terry the tiler

For what it's worth, I think it looks absolutely great as is. I think perhaps your worry is that the grout is somehow de-emphasising the gorgeous floor tile. I personally don't like an eye being drawn to the floor and the way it is now, does create a bit of tension, but good tension in my view. The wall tile with grey grout gives the room the urban edge I assume you were going for but then offset by that great floor. I like the eclectic aspect to it. Grout choice is always difficult, but if you went for white, I think it'd be a wash out. Don't forget the reason you opted against white in the first place! That reason is still there. :) I actually also like the white walls. Throw in an accent colour and a plant, boom! If you want to feel better, Google or Pinterest Paris Metro platform photos...

Both Hansgrohe and (Friedrich) Grohe are German companies; Friedrich was a son of Hans who went on his own in the 1930s, so they share a certain heritage. These days, Grohe is larger and no longer family owned. Both produce outside Germany as well as on their original German sites still. Both produce "basic" and "high-end" ranges. They're both regarded well back home in Germany, much of the choice is down to personal preference. Hansgrohe is on average slightly more expensive (but not on everything). They also own the Axor design brand which has a more "ecletic" selection. One can mix-and-match; in our bath (bit messy, sorry - we're using it for the washing up while waiting for the kitchen to be installed), the mixer is Grohe as is the shower wall outlet, the shower rail and head shower arm (just above the shower screen) are Hansgrohe pieces. At least the chromed finishes are very close for the two: Both can be sourced well below retail list prices - if you're prepared to wait, German online sellers for bathroom goods tend to have many-months delivery timelines. For Grohe essentials (the classical Grotherm mixers) at least, any German DIY shop stocks these at very attractive prices (the difference to the UK retail price list will pay for the ferry ticket and fuel).

Hello. What did you decide on in the end? I have non bevelled metro tiles on the walls and trying to decide if I should do a hex mosaic for the floor, perhaps slightly larger than the penny size.
