my client chose that, and i'm not sure from where. Try Design Within Reach... but there are many such items if you browse catalogues that specialize in Mid-Century modern style.

I was going to suggest locating the tv to the bar area until I read your comment - then I read about cable trunking! So... I'm sticking to the suggestion of locating the tv under the stairs. That would truly free up the room so that you could keep it fairly open for now with just a sofa and maybe a couple of huge bean bags for the kids but could add further seating as the kids get older. You have a gorgeous light filled room there, so I would use an L shape right hand sofa. That way the patio doors are kept free for the light to flood in and for you to open in the sumer to create a flowing indoor/outdoor space. I would also keep the style of the sofa as slimline as possible in order for the space to feel larger and use modern glass side tables for the room to feel spacious and uncluttered keeping the feeling of lightness. I've attached a couple of links to Dwell which have some sofas I think would look great in your space. The space under the sofa could be used for storage or kept vacant to further create the illusion of spaciousness in the room. hi ! lining up the sofa to a feature such as a fire place is a good start... but if moving the door complicates issues then maybe it might be easier to move the fireplace ? As it looks like its not got one at the moment ? so you'd be putting it in anyway ? personally i like a pair of chairs and a decent height table betweeen them in a bay ... somewhere to play chess etc ... its tricky to comment more without room sizes ... if the fire you are thinking of is a faux one, I'd suggest maybe consider sofa on existing tv wall, and tv/ fireplace on internal wall might offer up another option ? that way you could maybe have seating on the wall between dining and lounge and the external wall, and bay ? its quite nice to see seating when you walk in a room, (with pics above ) and then get the bonus of a feature like a fireplace when you are in there ! ...changing the internal doors to glazed might give a bit more light into hallway which might be nice ! if current are fire doors though - then keep as they are! ( if it has ground floor and more than one upstairs level they will / should be fire doors )

Hi Kerry, With this scheme, it’s all about the small details. Don’t worry, there’s a few simple changes you can make that will instantly leave your lounge feeling much more country rustic. I love your tartan curtains, they’re a really nice addition to this scheme. However, my first suggestion would be to swap your existing curtain pole in favour of a wooden alternative. Paint colour advice for North facing lounge

Hi Emma. For a long narrow room (relatively speaking as it isn't narrow!), you could paint the 2 short walls the dark colour as this will "correct" the room's proportions rather than paint the long wall as it will accentuate the length. Alternatively you'd normally paint the fireplace wall to highlight the feature. I think as you've got doors it should break it up a bit but I'd do the doors in the same colour. I would probably go for something a bit richer than pitch blue, like Hague blue. I know whose room that is you've pictured in the 2nd pic so will try and find the colour but am sure it was a valspar paint! You could also try downpipe which works well in a north facing room. I'd probably put these with warm whites/neutrals rather than grey. Elephants breath can work really well in a north facing room but can also just look grey and agree with littlesongs comments! You could also go dark on all walls and layer the lighting, add mirrors etc. Or if you decide light then people can make colour suggestions for that :)
