Ideas for garden steps please
Comments (14)I'd looked for glass too but without any success for off the shelf. There are a number of bespoke makers so may be worth getting a quote just to see? a possible solution is to step onto a platform and then have steps down either side of the windows (drainpipe would need to be moved but should be a lot cheaper than bespoke stairs). It's difficult to tell without seeing the whole of the house but could be worth looking at. I'd sketch it out though to check it doesn't look odd!...See MoreGarden ideas for terraced garden
Comments (8)Hi Sue, thanks very much for your for your much appreciated comments, yes we now have realised that not trying too hard to cultivate this area and having a 'wild' element with meadow grass and a mown path is the best option. May I also ask you for advice regarding an old Box hedge we have on one of the terraced areas which has grown very thick and is quite high, we have tried to support it to tie it back in places but due to the position of our house we experience high winds at times and the hedge is really starting to lean over and it is quite a difficult hedge to continually trim and maintain. We are thinking of removing it in the winter as a 'project' and replacing it with a lower fence which we could then cover with climbing plants. Does this sound a good idea?...See MoreGarden Design ideas for a medium sized garden
Comments (13)Ok, it’s been a little while since we left off on the garden project, however as we’re approaching spring we’re keen to get the space cleaned up for spring. To open up the space we’ve removed the middle two bar fence and relocated the beech hedging to the screen the remaining fencing. The aim being to create more privacy and blend into the landscape behind. To add security we was thinking of adding gravel and rockery / water feature (not pond) to the righthand side near the gate. Opposite create a gravel area for the stone bench and dot a few ball shrubs and a Victorian lamp for interest. Uplighter’s will be used to illuminate the hedge. In the main section of the garden add one or two trees on the section on the righthand side to create some privacy from the neighbours line of sight into the bench area. Thereafter add more ball shrubs, lupine and foxgloves to create height. Apply a horizontal slat fence (painted a muted sage green) to tidy up the bad side of the existing fence. All borders will be edged with a slim red brick to match the house and make it easier for moving. Finally to mask the shed, introduce some rose bushes and lavender....See MoreHelp with design of steps from exterior french doors to garden/patio
Comments (1)My sister’s extension is almost complete. Outside she has had the patio raised up to meet the sliding doors (no step) and at the end of the patio she has had a set of steps leading down to another seating area. It’s all plain concrete at the moment until she has it paved. So in effect there are no awkward steps immediately from the house door. Hope that make sense?...See MoreRicky Watkins
