New porch on a side entrance

I'd like to build a porch and get rid of the car port on the side of my house. I'm looking for inspiration and ideas for a porch that would have the door facing down the drive but having the door facing the same way as the existing wouldnt be a problem if it looked good, I just want somewhere for shoes and coats as the front door opens to the bottom of the stairs which generates alot of mess

Hi could you explain which rooms the windows on either side of the front door are for? If those windows are both in use for the interior rooms then you are only going to be able to put a tiny porch on there which might look a bit odd. However if you could build a slightly larger porch or mini side extension that took up a larger space it could be very useful. You will probably need permission though as it is to the front of the property. Has any of your neighbours done anything similar?

Looks like a nice porch but can you perhaps show photo(s) from a wider angle? From these photos it’s hard to judge the possible ‘curb appeal’.

I agree that painting the woodwork and radiator is the way to go here. It will unify the space really nicely. I also think he brass accents and black mirror would give a contemporary look and add more interest. As plants on the floor are not an option, would you consider hanging plants at all? They could be attached to your ceiling and hang from a macrame hanger. Becky

The window to the left is the living room the one to the right was the main bathroom which has been removed and put upstairs so down stairs is now all open plan

I'm happy to have a tiny porch as it will litterally be a place for shoes and coats to break it up from the outside elements to inside

As you have a window right next to the front door, I think a porch that covers both would be best.
