Any ideas where to sell a luxury hanging pendant?

Hi

We have a new designer luxury pendant (Contardi Lighting) that I can’t return as it was made to order (other than eBay and Gumtree does anyone have any ideas where I could sell it?) As it cost £1100 and I would like to get some of the money back.

Thank you for your comments. We will be arranging the new business over the next couple of months. We will probably publish a simple website from where a brochure can be downloaded. Customers can choose which components they want in their Pendant, these can then be manufactured at the factory. Once made - a photo can be taken at the factory and sent to the customer for final approval before the item is sent to the customer. I'm afraid for custom made products, we won't be able to take them back unless faulty. From a cost perspective for custom Pendants, we are still working this out, but will be in the range of £100-£300+VAT depending on design, materials and finish. Shades will be in range of materials from Glass, Metal, Wood, Concerete, Plastic etc. If you are a designer and have a completely new shape and design that you want to have manufactured to sell in some volume (100+ pieces) - that is also possible. The factory does this for lighting designers in Europe. There will be an initial cost to design and re-tool to produce the design, but this will be your exclusive design. Obviously, your Pendants will be at wholesale rates. We will also provide LED lamps for the Pendants - standard LEDs lamps and also the atmospheric LED filament lamps. There is a lot to do to establish this business - but thanks for taking the time to comment and help us understand the market and any suggestions will be gratefully received.

4 pendants over island?

Generally, I would suggest odd numbers of pendants look better. I also think 4 pendants over a 3m island may look a little cramped, but to some extent this depends on the size of the pendants. The island in the attached photo is approx. 2.6m and spaced approximately 0.8m apart. It may have been possible that the ideal layout for the lighting was not possible due to the positioning of floor/ceiling joists above. However, if this was the case, the builder or electrician should have discussed this with you. I would discuss with the builder/electrician to see whether there was any rationale why the holes have been made where they are, and if there is no major issue, request they are repositioned to suit a 3 pendant configuration positioned centrally. Finally, if one side is going to feature a breakfast bar, perhaps the pendant lighting could be positioned more to this area. However, to avoid this looking accidental, it would need to be significantly offset from the central line.

Hi. There are a couple of factors to consider such as how deep your peninsula is and the ceiling height available. If you have a double depth peninsula (e.g. 1200-1300d) then the fitting can sit a little lower over the worktop area without risk of hitting your head on it, I would then position the pendant approx 700mm from worktop height to underside of pendant. If however you have a narrower worktop, I would raise the fitting by 200mm to 900mm from top of worktop. Ceiling height, the typical ceiling height in the UK is 2.4m (but if you live in a town house you could have ceilings of 4m or a beamed cottage, scraping 2m if lucky) base on the above information you will have approx 800mm between underside of pendant and ceiling (based on the wider peninsula dims). I would look for a fitting approx 400-500dia and 200-250mm high. this allows for 550-600mm gap between top of fitting and ceiling. Edited: Just seen your post above that your ceiling is 9ft (2.74m) therefore you could look for a fitting that is even upto 400mm high and will still read well within the space If you would like any help sourcing a fitting meeting these dimension, please contact me directly.
