Redoing first floor flooring: chance to install under floor heating?

Marion Sense
last year

Hi all,
We just bought a house and are planning to replace the carpet upstairs with wooden floor (probably engineered wood flooring).
We’re thinking it could be our chance to install under floor heating (we currently have gas central heating).
Would you have any thoughts/advice? Is that a good idea?
It’s supposed to be more efficient than regular heating, yet it’s not that commonly installed, even in new build properties so I’m wondering why (besides the installation cost and the fact that you need to remove the floors).
Thanks!
