Grout appeared lighter than sample - what are my options

Hi there, I wanted to match my kitchen and bathroom tiles to the grout and thought I had found the perfect match, or so it seemed on the sample… the workers have completed the kitchen and it seems bright white rather than the beige it was on the sample! I really dislike the look plus I dont think that bright of white is practical for bathroom and kitchen..
What are my options here - removing this grout and adding new one or is there something that can be done with the existing one to make it appear darker? If so would it last at all or would it have to be topped up constantly?

Any input is soooo welcomed!

It looks nice. I had some of my shower tiling regrouted as it had gone a bit scruffy. I said the grout was white but tiler insisted it was Ivory. When he completed it it was so obvious the original grout was white so the ivory grout he’d done now looks a dingy cream!

I don’t think it looks bright white. But if you really don’t like it you can rake it out and start again.

I agree with Sonia that lots of colours look dingy and you might be better with what you have.

Hi, We are in final stages of redevelopment of farmhouse. We have a solid wood, kitchen which we need to repaint and I like the mussel colour. It’s taken me ages to decide. I found blue lights to go above island that I adored and looked at blues but we have a black granite worktop and distressed wood floors (I don’t like pale blue, I like rich blues so felt too dark) I also love green although the lights I like in blue are not as nice in green and and other ones are mega expensive. So my main q is we have a large kitchen with island and small breakfast nook. There is only 1 large window into porch and back door. Walls are all white. Will all mussel kitchen work? Will green or blue work as accent colours? Also where can I get mussel cupboard paint from? Obviously I have seen colour in kitchen spot and here in this post but doors already come painted. I need paint that colour but have no idea where to get it from ?

Hi Laura, thanks for posting. Wow, it looks amazing! Amazing how much difference the floor, splashback and mirror make, it's transformed. Well done. I used white 40x15cm tiles in my shower, fixed brick-bond, landscape, and almost black grout. The tiler said it took him longer than usual to make sure it looks neat and it's pristine. Agree with all comments about flooring - I inherited cream floor tiles with cream grout on my ground floor. Horrendous - just don't look too closely :-) x

That photo does look good, the two don't clash at all. I can't afford real wood flooring. I will either be having new laminate or engineered wood flooring, neither of which are something I would want in a kitchen. I also don't feel comfortable having something I feel would be more difficult to clean than tiles. It's a kitchen diner which opens onto our unusually wet and muddy garden. I have two children who create lots of mess. Just yesterday my eldest spilled some sort of hideous red goo all over the cream carpet upstairs! My other option is some sort of blue geometric patterned tiled floor. I haven't been able to find many affordable options so would probably only be able to do half of the room, depending on the way it is designed. Do any more affordable options exist? I found the optiks tiles at topps tiles which are just under £70 a square metre, so still too expensive for me. They are also quite a light blue and I'd prefer something darker. Are there any other options around?

Raking out grout is a difficult job and can chip the tiles when using the diamond grout removal tools. I would stick with it. It will likely dull down over time.

The grout will definitiely dull down with time. I'd stick with and if you still don't like it, then it may be an option to remove the grout and start again but it is a chore to do that. Hope this helps.
