pink plasterboard above garage door

I am plasterboarding my integral garage with dot n dab. The ceiling is already plasterboarded with the pink stuff which I believe to be some fire regulated board. There is also one small piece of it above the integral fire door. I want to remove it so I can plasterboard the whole wall. When I snapped half of it off it revealed this cement and smaller brickwork behind it. Anyone know why this is and if my standard plasterboard will be ok to replace whatever reason the pink piece was there for?
