If you had the following kitchen and dining room design, from what side would you open the sliding doors

But if you had a party on the otherside wouldn’t it be nicer to have a full view rather than half three doors over each other? Or is it to do with the flow? Also would you prefer this layout then (pic attached) with the dining in a booth on the right hand side. The right hand side actually has a slanting roof due to sun blocking in the other property.

Dear Oddjob99, If you're still deciding on the door swing direction, it is always recommended to have the door swing towards the nearest wall, so you enter and walk directly into a space, rather than around a door to enter a space. I advice you to stick to your first option 1. Advantages: - Maximize open space for furniture layout. - Better circulation (visually and physically) into a room. - Allow your kids the option to close the door (you can place a door stop so it doesn't shut fully if you're concerned for their safety). Plus as they grow older, they will eventually prefer having their privacy. Happy decision making!

Hi Keswing, Although bifolding doors can give you a 95% width opening, they will be closed much of the time, and when they are, there are thicker and numerous sightlines blocking the view. Your short patio space will be restricted by the stacked doors too. You can of course have them opening and stacking inside the property, although this may cause similar problems of limiting space indoors. Your main exit door could be on the left or right depending on configuration and which side you want to stack the doors so this should not be an issue for you - why do you only have the option for a main door on the right? You could have two exit doors in the middle if you really wanted and the bifolding doors stack to either side, but the width is not really wide enough for this. A 3-panel sliding doors system, with all three panels sliding will give you the sliding door system with the biggest open gap, but will have two visible sightlines when closed. A 2-panel sliding doors sytem will provide the best view (as only one sightline in the middle of the doors will be visible when closed) but the openable width will only be 50%. Sliding doors with exceptionally slim sightlines, such as our VISION Ultra Slim Sliding Doors would be my recommendation :-)

Hi Heather! Thanks for your comment, I suppose it's just down to personal perspective and budgets. We won't be able to put aside that amount just for the doors so will likely need to compromise on quality etc!

Strange. It didn't upload. That's it up now. The Fridgefreezer opening that way allows access to both worktops. If I was taking contents from the door it would allow me to place on both worktop. Because it is left of centre I thought it be better opening on left? Maybe not? If it opened on the right from this position it is kind of forcing you to use the left hand work surface? Also if I put the shopping on the floor in between the larder and the fridge to pack food away I can easily have fridge door and larder doors open and just pop things in. If it was right hinged I would have to step around the door. Am I overthinking this yet?! LOL The living room is off to the right with french doors so you would be opening the contents and light to the living room and whoever is in there too. Have a wee look sure and let me know your thoughts :-) Much appreciated!
