How can I choose the right design for a kind of small dressing room?

It depends on how small it is. If it’s a small space then realistically the end result will be rails to maximise storage.

It’s it’s generously sized then you can choose decorative furniture and somewhere to sit while dressing

250cm*280cm , one wall with the bathroom door and the second wall with the room entry. So two complete walls to use only

Dear Rachael, congratulation on your soon new home! The floor looks great and the fire place is quite dominant but stylish. I would suggest to keep the decor light and use the black and dark tones of the fire place as accent in accessories and furnitures. Go with a natural range of colours (like your sofa) and then zing it up with a splash of sophisticated black in cushions and details. Which style do you like? Modern, contemporary, cottage cosy, relax and natural or eclectic? Make up an idea board and then really look of what you have collected: what do the images have in common? The darker tone can come in on the thin metallic legs of a modern table or in a stylised line of an art work on the wall ... be subtle, do not over do it, simplicity is the key. If you are overwhelm by the all thing, play safe to give yourself time: go for a light neutral grey or off white for the walls and once you moved in get the feel of it. Dulux has a free app to quickly visualise any colour on the wall just by pointing the tablet camera; you may find it useful: https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/articles/the-dulux-visualizer-app If you do hung a mirror above the fireplace, go larger then the one in the image you posted. Embrace the size, alternatively go for a cluster of smaller images or mirror up to the width of the fireplace. Another tip for buying accessories (if trying to play it safe)..... you have probably noticed that in M&S your chosen accent colour has lots of similar items in matching shades but but they are different from the shades chosen by buyers in Next. This is a retail trick to make their store look more cohesive and you can take advantage for your own home.

Hi Andrea, How exciting, congratulations. A couple of comments I would make. There is a lot of seating/eating in the kitchen! Do you really need a bistro table, dining table and island? I think the dining table is a must but the snacky casual seating I think either/or! Also as a guest, I hate toilets with two doors! I always think I'm going to forget to lock or unlock them both! I like the concept of the large utility room and I can't quite read all the words on there but can the toilet perhaps stay in its current location (saving ££) and make the kitchen and utility room one space with a new backdoor elsewhere or by shortening the existing toilet wall? Here’s what I would do ....get rid of striped wallpaper and paint the walls . Place a large mantle mirror over the fireplace . Position one sofa at right angles to fireplace ( as it is now ) but have two chairs opposite with coffee table in centre. A console table , in same position , but slimmer with a curated collection of art work above if . On the long fireplace wall I would consider floating shelves at different heights with plants and accessories. Play around with placing furniture. It’s amazing how moving something a few inches can make a difference to the balance of a room . Same with art work....don’t dot it around or hang it too high . Have fun !

Sorry typing issue - window and rad in one end walkway in the other so no option for a dressing table. Recommend to have a large mirror for dressing and bounce the light. We have doors on our wardrobes. I had open shelving before in a previous house but found that dust was an issue. I got the ones we have custom built but the internals are fixed and I would have preferred more flexible adjustable internals that I can change as I need.

If you like easy accessability we have just turned our smallest bedroom into a dedicated dressing room with Ikea boaxel system. Its very flexible with shelves, hanging rails and wire baskets. I have a wall of pine shelves for shoe storage too. It does help if you have a reasonably high ceiling. Ours is very low and it restricts the hanging depth. Try and leave space for a full height mirror. You can get very slim ones now. I find open storage easier to use but agree about the dust and the low sun can bleach clothing too. A good blind is essential.
