How can I make everything tie in on a tight budget?
Comments (12)Hi. If you can sew I would make your own curtains, rather than cream I would go for white and silver grey. The other option is to buy some cheap ready made curtains and either add borders in a luxury fabric or add something like a Pom pom trim etc. I would probably stop buying bits until you've sat down and looked at schemes you like. Once you've done that then make up a mood board so you can see how it all ties together. It just means you won't waste money on buying stuff you don't like. I would also look at trying to create a focal point as you don't have a fire, this could be art or a mirror over a cabinet for example. Or hang your tv above a console and add art around it.The biggest change for me atm would be to add cushions to lighten the sofa up though. I would also keep an eye on ebay, antique shops, country house auctions etc for maybe a replacement desk and a coffee table. Adding a lamp will add cosiness. I saw this fab light at george of asda the other day for £20. No idea what it looks like in the flesh but looks nice online!...See MoreHow can I make our bland 1970's exterior more appealing?!
Comments (12)It all comes down to budget as always. The bigger the budge the more you can do. I would be really mindful of the fact, that if you change the facade, it would be better if you could change the windows. The wood cladding I agree would look fabulous, you could have the bottom a lovely grey to tone in. However, neither will look good with bog standard white windows, as both look better with a dark grey, thinner Aluminium Frame or a Chunkier Sandy Beige Frame. When you add white windows, the effect is not quite so slick The pic above shows the white windows with the cladding and it would look a lot better with the darker, thinner frames. If you can't afford to change or colour bond the windows, then maybe go for all over colour, a dark grey would be good, and consider changing the Front door for impact. Alternatively, work towards doing the ultimate change. The vertical wood cladding, with a grey underneath and a door to match the wood. Thinner dark pewter aluminium framed windows etc. sorry about the mock up quality!...See MoreI am a mess! How can I decorate above the sofa?
Comments (16)I would suggest taking everything off of your mantel (bar the lanterns), and mounting the mirror above it to the wall - don't have it leaning. The cupboard in the middle of the fireplace really needs moving... if you don't have enough storage in your side board without it then I'd suggest replacing both units for one bigger storage unit. You could also get rid of all your cushions, and replace with some brighter ones and a sofa throw - I would also move your sofa with its back against the window. And as people have said above, the rug is too small for the room, by replacing this for a bigger one it'll bring your space altogether. Comments (30)We are looking for the same type of tiles to use on the wall of the sink. The whole bathroom will be a toned down yellow (that's the idea for now) and a secluded shower area - turquoise. The idea is to make it Spanish style, ao there will be a lot of dark wood wood (beams, mirror, sink plank, maybe some more planks, wooden door), some old school wall lights. Shower head and tap are supposed to be bronze color, the old school type. And we'll have plants hanging and standing around. Only not sure about the floor tiles yet. My husband wants it all in pebbles, but i'm not sure it will look nice...See MoreLouise Darcy
