How do I install an RSJ and side extension with a half landing?

Hi, I own a victorian terraced property and am looking to do a side extension of approx 5m2 and open up to create a kitchen/dining area. However, i have a half landing which protrudes into the area that i want to open up.
i have had a structural engineer attend and advise that the rsj install would be impossible due to the half landing, they advised the half landing would need to be raised to accommodate an approx 210mm rsj.
i have seen an example online which has had this work done, but i do not know if the half landing has been raised.
could you please assist in options to undertake this work. i believe it would be viable but the structural engineer thinks differently
