Comments (27)The colours you've chosen work really well together; I find the room really peaceful and relaxing but not in the least bit dull. Fantastic job. On details, I'd paint the radiator the same Hague Blue - it's not a feature and deserves to blend in, not stand out. I'd also hang bigger pictures than those you've chosen - to give a sense of balance with the drama of the colour. That means you could have larger pictures/paintings on each wall - the room can take it and it won't be dominated by art because your sofa and chairs are such a good size for the room. I'd have bigger plants, or at least one bigger plant - the one I can see is a bit small and would work well on a surface (a side table, perhaps) while a very large plant on the floor would bring the room alive. I agree that a mirror would be good. Have you tried pulling the sofa away from the wall and more into the room? Comments (115)Hello! It’s arrived but is being fitted Monday :0) The colour wasn’t quite what I wanted as although it’s not supposed to have any blue in it, if can look blue in some lights. I don’t mind it looking deep navy but sometimes it looks lighter. Will see when it’s all up though as with the worktop on the island and overhang, it will probably just look more black! Bear in mind the company didn’t use actually F&B paints as they mix their own. Definately advises paying for a test door first as they got the colour totally wrong at first (was bright blue!) and it was hard work getting the manufacturers to check it and do it again. Comments (25)That's a very good question. I actually haven't been in there recently. The OH has been working from home since before lockdown and he isn't the tidiest of people, so I've left him pretty much to it. It's his space, if he makes it a tip, that's on him. However, as there appears to be enquiring minds wanting to know, I've just asked him how it looks and he's said it's okay (?) :-( ...............But we all know that a lot of blokes have a very different definition of okay to that of a female. He's disappointed with the Billys, as they're not quite up to snuff because he wasn't able to get the glass shelves during lockdown. Comments (4)Laura, it’s a personal preference but I’d say no. You already have a dark and light contrast which I think looks nice. By introducing The Hague Blue, I think you’d cheapen the impact of your concrete wall by introducing another dark element. I think it’s a case of leaving well alone, it looks good as it is....See MoreM M

16 days agoAll White or good old fashioned pure brilliant white, but if the hall is that dark I wouldn’t go navy at all. I would choose something like Purbeck Stone or Pavillion Grey on the pannelling - very elegant. I made the mistake of painting my hall green, Pigeon, and it sucked the remaining light out of the hall completely! Soon repainted it a light grey, so much nicer.

11 days agoIf your hallway really is dimly lit and you are sensitive to shadows, I wouldn’t look to an uber light, near neutral white such as FB All White first.
Near neutral whites are very low in chroma. (degree of colour).Zero chroma = a true neutral.
Such whites, really require a decent amount of well-balanced light, to be at their luminous and gleaming best. They aren’t illuminants in themselves.
An off-white with more chroma (degree of colour), such as Wimborne White, would be worth viewing in situ first.
Don’t dismiss it because it may appear too yellowish in the better lit areas of your home.
That extra kick of chroma may simply translate to a welcome softness, in lower lighting.
Should Wimborne White still feel too much of a colour in that space for you,chroma = 0.68 and All White render a little raw and shadowy, with a chroma of 0.21?
Then you are looking for a white with a degree of chroma which sits between the two.
