Kitchen lighting love: Which LED design lights up your life?
Comments (7)The colour temperature of the LEDs suit the finishes of the first kitchen, but the second kitchen , with wooden effects, needs a much warmer LED. A fine line when working in kitchens as the cooler the LED, the better the preparation light. Tough one!...See MoreKitchen lighting recommendations please
Comments (15)Hi Ellie. Right ignore the IP rating, apparently a requirement for bathrooms only, I thought the same would be sensible in some areas in the kitchen but apparently not! if you like the anglepoise I'd probably put some mid century style pendants with them. I would personally go for glass to emit as much light as possible If you're not having any downlights and a sputnik style over the table which will disperse light over the length of the table. It also doesn't visually fill the space too much which may be good with the drop in ceiling height? Do you have any cabinet handles at all btw? I don't know how you feel about having the light hung low over the table (typically a min of 76cm above the table). I've added a pic of the black version of the brass one as it's hung even lower the 76cm. If you don't like this idea there are a number of semi-flush ones which would work. I've also added the last pic as I guess layout is similar. Sadly the wall lights are no longer sold where they but will persist in trying to find similar if you like this look!...See MoreKitchen lighting
Comments (2)We hate spotlights too, and under cabinet, under /over plinth lights.....We have 2 pendant lights over the island, 2 wall lights along the kitchen run, a pendant above dining table. This is plenty of light for us....See MoreSuggestions for kitchen lighting
Comments (7)Thanks for commenting! The kitchen design fell in place driven on the back of the fact that we really wanted to create a small area for our children at the back of the room. It was important to me that this was an uninterrupted space which we wouldn’t constantly be walking in and out of. We also didn’t want to do any building work so it made sense for the children’s area to be where it’s now marked. You can also see that that wall is full of windows, the larger one being low and mid leg height so it wasn’t the easiest place for a kitchen counter. Plus I understand gas hobs cannot be next to a window. With all that in mind the majority of the kitchen has to be on that wall. Our current kitchen goes ever so slightly over the french doors and it’s really no problem (even it becomes hazardous as the children get older we can move them if necessary). We opted for the sink to be where it is so we can comfortably get a large toddler tower for children’s messy play and hand washing in front of it without struggling to get past (I have twins). Hope this all makes sense. Kitchen is 6.1 x 3.2m The dining table isn’t to scale and I’m just showing where it will go....See MoreJudyG Designs
