Dining Room Decor Ideas
Comments (4)Hello Filza87, Welcome! Yes Roman blinds will work of course, and whatever your preferences are. White or off white and plain would be my suggestion here keeping it light as it's a smaller area.. Something like a linen.. For flowers I would suggest whites or peachy tones with foliage and possibly something inky.. Like a bluish mauve.....Some of these within would be nice as they add a little touch of a darker colour to compliment the dark chairs.. http://www.okadirect.com/viburnum-berry-stem-deep-purple.aspx?vid=npx069prm-0 and these... http://www.okadirect.com/faux-casa-blanca-lily-flower-stem.aspx?vid=npx073wht-0 http://www.okadirect.com/faux-delphinium-single-flower-stem.aspx?vid=npx072wht-0 You can ask them to make the arrangement for you and even take in a vase of your choosing if you aren't buying one.. They will make it and tape it so you can simply untie and sit as it has been put together if you don't want to do them yourself.. Not pink really for flower colour I'd say.. but again... It's what you like that matters.. With the chairs, try spreading them out so one at either head of table and one either side.. Depending on how many are used at any one time, a couple could be situated near the walls with a cushion for decoration, if there is room, something like either side of a doorway for example... This spreads out the black a bit more.. For cushions look at rectangular or square and plain linen.. Creams or off whites would be my suggestion and plain with washable covers.. and button backs are nice but again, whatever you like really.. . : ))...See MoreSmall Dining room decoration help!
Comments (5)Hi Eilidhmca, Congratulations on your new home! Trying to choose colours when you have a period property as well as limited natural light, can be quite a challenge. For an elegant and timeless shade, use Dulux Steel Symphony 4 from our colour mixing range. This calming muted blue tone works beautifully on the walls and echoes the Scandinavian style, which will work perfectly with your classic blue Aga. To ensure that your scheme will look great for longer, use our Endurance+ finish paint. Specially formulated with Diamond Technology, it is 20x tougher than our conventional matt paint. As for your chosen dining table, it will work effortlessly within your dining room. For a complete Rustic-Scandi inspired dining area, use a mix of bench and dining chair seating. We love how these different chair styles in white and statement lighting create a fabulous characteristic dining table layout. Comments (10)As Jen said painting the short end walls in a warm or dark colour helps to correct the room proportions as it brings the walls in. If you're not keen on that I'd just keep the same colour on all 4. The way you've arranged art is good in separate groups as it's breaking up the length of the walls. Have you considered adding a large mirror/s on the long walls? Normally bringing some of the furniture away from the walls helps so you have something in the midddle of the room, is that a footstool or is it attached to the sofa?! I would also add floor and table lamps (regardless of room dimensions) as it will make the room feel bigger at night if some of those corners are lit. You could also add a rug, horizontal stripes are good but something like a diamond geometric would work too...See MoreAdvice needed re. decorating small lounge connected to dining room
Comments (12)hi Carolina, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me and love your ideas. I should have added more detail but you managed to visualize the layout quite closely. Actually, no door in dining area , only access thru sitting room. Love the area rug and have Macys one which will work perfectly - might pull a greyish -blue color from rug for walls maybe similar to the example you provided. Also have two mid-century style floor lamps which I can use. I really like the idea of a mural as the Wow - only concern is that radiator is on that wall. Do you think I could work around that somehow? Shelving will work perfectly - I was thinking something from Ikea or JLewis. Agree that blind is better and like curtains on patio door side. I am really hooked on the mural suggestion . Thanks and I will post a updated photo to show you the final result when we get everything done -hopefully by Dec. -especially now that I have something to show 'the main man'. I am really excited about getting this going!!!Regards eithne...See MorePinaki Chaudhuri
